Version Check Error / Launcher/Boot/Update Error

For those getting this error and you've done what they recommend. I've solved this issue by following some instructions found on Reddit.

Open your Documents Folder > My Games > Open FFXIV_BOOT.cfg with Notepad (if you've never done this before you have to pick the "app" to open it) then where is says BootVersionCheckMode 0 , change the 0 to a 1 and then you must SAVE. Not save "as" just hit the save button.

Then open and try again, if it fails again, go back into it and make sure it set to 1 and didn't go back to 0.

This forced the launcher to update for me.

Yeah! It worked for me.

I change the dns for google, i reconnect my net and then open the launcher again and began to update , then on the checking files throw me error, so, i disconnect from my net again, and i change the dns to default settings, and wallah it's done the game is updating as normal!

I'd suggest again, make sure the notepad is saved and the zero is now a one. But I've read that this helps some and others say the DNS.

Still did not work. I went an extra step and removed the files in " downloads >> ffxivpatch". Only then did I actually get a progression bar for downloading the patch, and encountered the same error yet again.

This is incredibly infuriating.. My other half can't even get online no matter what he tries. SE fix your shit. And before you say 'do x' he's literally tried everything on reddit and here.. Nothing works. :/
