No no no, there is no more blaming Tanaka. This is a team Yoshida idea, now enjoy it, he's an adult he can own it.There is no other explanation for the tedium related to the moogle item collection. It has classic Tanaka time sink all over it. The tedium level just feels like Tanaka to me.
Another example:
After acknowledging that the the +1/+2/+3/NQ versions of items were creating inventory issues, next steps were to implement 4 tiers of Materia, each having variable stats, non stacking, and requiring numerous variety of catalysts.
There are numerous examples of this sort if anti-logic in the game that make me wonder if Tanaka isn't really still driving, and the management change was just for show.
If that is NOT the case, then it seems like the new mgmt is just as interested in tedious, time consuming, not really "fun" game mechanics as the previous.

Takes about 15-20 minutes to get the items... in a 15 minute lockout period, it's not that bad.
Not any less annoying, but not that bad.
edit: not saying I like this, it was interesting the 1st time around.. but its a bit stale when you can only get a few kills per night. The length of the fight (15-20 mins) + 20mins of farming... get about a run an hour (bathroom break / repairs / turning in the quest / etc.)
At least they are changing it.... hopefully lol

Instant gratification.
All I see is hurr.
The thing is that 15-20 mins is good to maybe go make some food or go for a t break! then it becomes 40-50-60-800 minutes zomg!Takes about 15-20 minutes to get the items... in a 15 minute lockout period, it's not that bad.

You can speculate all you want, so far they have stuck with 15 minute lock outs. The only difference between Mog and Ifrit is that the Inferno Tapers stacked. It probably takes 10 minutes (or possibly longer) to farm 40 tapers, if you have a full party that can AoE down one of the bigger rooms.
I'm not sure what the solution for Mog is... make the items stack? make it so you only need to kill 2-3 Nm's instead of 5?
But like I said, you can really clear the NM's in 15-20minutes... oh wait, assuming there is no competition for kills.
Well if this is team Yoshida then I smell trouble ahead with v2.0. It tells me they are not learning from their past mistakes.
If your content consists of a Boss Encounter and that's it, then just let it be that. It doesn't need some elaborate system of access. Try integrating this stuff in a more intuitive way into the encounter itself if you wish people to do it. Make it fun. Tired mechanics like walking only and turbo-aggro from trees just to add danger doesn't = fun. It just equals annoying.

Based on evidence I have seen over the past year-ish. I believe Yoshi-P has his touch all over this game, while the original layout of the content and story are still being injected into this game. Tanaka's visions will not die with the new team, only be integrated in a new way. Things like the planned Colosseum are re-imagined versions previous plans.
get rid of some of your crap materia. none of it crap? then sell some for good gil. if you have filled up 495 slots, then the problem lays with you. i believe they have already said they plan on changing the need for 5 items to enter the moogle battle. just a little side note, i think it was quite insulting of you to imply that you can't see any change in game development over the last year since yoshi has taken over
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
