    Mark of Tanaka

    There is no other explanation for the tedium related to the moogle item collection. It has classic Tanaka time sink all over it. The tedium level just feels like Tanaka to me.

    Another example:

    After acknowledging that the the +1/+2/+3/NQ versions of items were creating inventory issues, next steps were to implement 4 tiers of Materia, each having variable stats, non stacking, and requiring numerous variety of catalysts.

    There are numerous examples of this sort if anti-logic in the game that make me wonder if Tanaka isn't really still driving, and the management change was just for show.

    If that is NOT the case, then it seems like the new mgmt is just as interested in tedious, time consuming, not really "fun" game mechanics as the previous.

    As a devoted tanaka hater I approve the title.

    Been said many times before but I can't stop: For a patch that was supposed to act as the final little nudge that would convince the players to start paying a monthly fee 1.20 was almost a joke.

    I seriously wonder: What kind of people is leading this game? How can they be so disconnected from the most basic consensus of what is fun and what is tedious in a videogame?

    The fact that they need to make changes to the content barely a week after release is the worst part, seriously, because it means that the next morning after the patch the boss devs went into their little meeting room, gathered around a PC and waited while Yoshida loaded the boards then all screamed at once in genuine surprise "HOLY CRAP THEY HATED IT! WHAT WENT WRONG?".

    Edit: Someone please make a fall of adolf parody of that. "All of those who haven't got the Ifrit weapon they want most please leave the room"


    If they can't at least tell what most of the players are absolutely going to hate maybe they shouldn't be designing games.


    It takes a genius to tell what everyone is gonna love but to tell what everyone will hate you only need common sense.

    This mental image was funny. The thing is, do you genuinely think they make these terrible decisions with the best intentions, believing they are wise decisions? Or do you think a lot of this horrid choices are intentional to as some have said, extend the "content"?

    I don't know which scares me more.

    What scares me more is that they wouldn't give a damn.

    A guaranteed way of alienating any customers you have in the long-term.

    I think they make them out of dumbness and general ignorance of what their customers want.

    Usually I would have guessed it was just the usual scumbag move of making the stick really long to keep us going longer after the carrot, but with the current population and the fact that they want us to start paying the two weeks from now I would have thought they would rather not push it...

    Lol op I was thinking the same thing when I realized we have to do that quest each time we want to participate in the moogle fight. I lost interest in it...ill stick to ifrit >.>

    Yeah I don't really get it. Tedious & time consuming generally doesn't necessarily equate to fun. I have played this game quite a bit, and I had high hopes for 2.0 to really move the bar from where we are, and it may just do that. I am just concerned due to "recent" design decisions that have been made with the existing version that lead me to believe that the developer is saying "we've changed" but demonstrating "we haven't changed much"

    It seems like for every foot forward, there are two or three backwards ;;

    Yeah, sometimes Yoshida's crew seems to completely forget why we asked for changes to the game. Eliminate stress, eliminate tedium (but don't give the rewards to us on a silver platter). However, Yoshida did make a dev post saying that they're going to fix the retarded requirements for the moogle fight, so cool your jets.
