    Current blm question.

How has .05 been for us? Tbh I was considering jumping ship to rdm. I love black mage, but if rdm was matching dps, had easy mode Rotation, a buff and clutch rez it was hard to not be swayed with how movement hits us so hard. Harder work for less gain.
I saw the f4 cast reduction and the triple reduction and saw a glimmer of hope.

So is blm back to the pewpew king or should I invest in that red dye.

I am not sure yet to be honest. I have to review the new fflogs to get anything. As for my personal opinion though, I tend to shy away from the easy classes and am drawn to the jobs no one wants or likes because they are too hard or they don't offer what the meta wants. Going with the flow always irks me. I want to prove that the class isn't as bad as the "majority" says, but that is my personal take on it.

If you want to jump ship though because the going gets tough, that is your prerogative to deal with. Just because something isn't good now doesn't mean it will be later down.

The politically correct opinion is "play what you like".
The answer that accounts for efficiency and nothing else is "play red mage".
Up to you how important fun/aesthetics/gameplay is vs pure numerical efficiency in a meta comp.
That said, BLM is way easier to execute than before. Can't even compare.

I prefer my blm, but saw little point in forcing the stick again like I did in 3.0 when Enoch was clunky as hell lol expecially if a rdm was more likely to get a spot in content due to their competitive dps and Swiss army utility.

As long as they have begUn letting us be the turret were meant to be, I'm excited.

The reduce spell cast time on BLM from 3.0 to 2.8 of F4/B4 helps greatly. I went from 2.79 to 2.59 cast time on F4/B4 with about 1593 or so spellspeed. Imagine what I can do with 1700+ spellspeed. I have also been checking out the creation gear and a fair amount of the gear is loaded with spellspeed. BLM is in an okay spot but could still use some refining (baby steps). I am having a blast in fights that are movement intesive with tc/sc of 60 sec cd, I can always line those up and be ready to move and blow up stuff on the go.

Based by my dummy tests, dps have raised like 200 dps what it was before.

I took both into O1S yesterday and, surprisingly, BLM felt more mobile than RDM. Triplecast is up for every Levenbolt. Between the Lines and Aetherial Manipulation are great for the stack mechanic, and you have Swiftcast for repositioning. As long as you plan your movement CDs, thou can keep nearly 100% uptime.

RDM was RDM. It was easier going in blind, insta-res was helpful, but Displacement was difficult to use. When he Downbursts and slightly changes position with ice on the floor it's pretty easy to derpflip straight of the platform. The radius is barely larger than your jump, which I learned the hard way... more than once...

As far as numbers, BLM was 200-300 DPS over RDM when I executed them well, but having Embolden up for every other Trick Attack in a group with SAM NIN BRD probably made up that difference.

The speed buff we got helps a great deal, it's feeling more fluid now. Fights were never a problem, Blm has always required a learning curve and the most knowledge of the fight of all classes.
Still, the issues with Umbral Hearts remain, it's still not really worth using outside of opener.

I have a Rdm leveled to 70 and I must say, I find it rather boring compared to Blm, but that's just a personal opinion. It definitely brings a lot more utility to a fight, together with a higher mobility due to it fast casting every other spell. Numbers are also high, it's easy to play and not very punishing if you mess stuff up.

Personally, I'll always be a Blm, and I'm happy my static accepts that and doesn't force me to Rdm. I just love the feel of it, which we got back with the recent speed buffs. Simply hope they'll make UH more useful sometime soon, but rather happy with it atm.
In the end, you'll have to decide for yourself
