    I've a feeling that a lot of the network and server side stuff is still some legacy 1.0 code, so they didn't have to code that from the scratch while they remade the game. It's also why you can't do anything, if you have vendor or a retainer open. Can't even accept party invites with vendor open, because of reasons. I think my recent favourite is how converting to cross-server party is handled. The game just disbands the current party (while showing you disband message and sound) and then groups everyone again. Nothing against doing it like that per se, but there is no reason for the end user to see all of that.

    Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.

    if (player.party != null) {
    var otherMember = player.party.members[0] == player ? player.party.members[1] : player.party.members[0];
    if (otherMember.CurrentLocation.Map == player.CurrentLocation.Map) {
    int otherMemberInstance = otherMember.CurrentLocation.Instance.ID;
    player.SetInstance(otherMemberInstance)
    }
    }

    There ya go, no excuses anymore.

    Like in WoW when u do a world quest(fates), when you join a group for it you get auto fazed with that group, no need to zone to join them

    AFAIK, if you let one person teleport and everyone else accepts the teleport option that pops up, you're all brought to the same instance. At least, that's how it worked when myself and some FC members did maps a few days ago.

    When it works, heh.

    As recently as 2016 you'd have players already in a party together, fighting an elite/world boss style creature, and one or more of them would get phased to a different instance of the zone right then and there mid-combat, without warning, no longer fighting the boss, and nothing they could do about it.

    Your group must have been extremely lucky then. Doing the same thing our group was scattered across all 3 instances.

    Here's an idea:

    How about not implementing things like Ixion in the first place?

    You...

    1). Implemented something you knew would be in extremely high demand such as a unique mount on a FATE.
    2). Made said FATE spawn only once per few days.
    3). Made it so that you must clear this FATE 6-12 times.
    4). Stuck this FATE in the highest level zone in the game currently, the very same zone that contains the last bits of the MSQ.

    May I ask you a question?

    What were you thinking was going to happen as a result?

    It almost seems like you did this and then a collective gasp was heard from the development team when the obvious happened and now you're scrambling trying to find ways to "deal with the congestion".

    The easiest way to deal with a problem, is to avoid it in the first place. Since you know large-scale ultra-rare FATEs that have extremely popular items will cause this sort of thing... how about not doing it in the first place? Or perhaps add some randomness to it instead of allowing it to follow predictable patterns so that everybody knows exactly when and where this FATE will pop so they can all go rushing to the zone when it is due to pop?

    And why 6-12 times for the mount? Once isn't enough? It's a mount. If you wanted to make it harder to get, you could have stuck it in some type of instanced content as a rare drop or something instead. You didn't have to absolutely destroy a whole area for roughly an hour time slot and then be forced to add Instances back in.

    I'm really scratching my head here, trying to understand just how this even happened in the first place. Did no one predict this during the design phase? During QA?

    It is also my understanding that this is not the first time it has happened. Did we not learn from the last time, or something? I don't want to sound like I am disrespectful of SE or its employees, but I feel these are legitimate questions that really should be answered.

    Don't implement a feature your game engine can't handle.

    These things will never be answered, cause SE loves implenting healfhearted content/features. Like the instances, diadem 1.0, Lord of Verminion, the squadrons, the FC workshop, did I mention Diadem 2.0? and much more. This is how SE is handling their games, did we get a proper answer to their server instability yet? They need some sort of "brain" or something to make good decisions.

    Im done listening to their excuses about how limitated things are. They dropped the biggest limitation and still you read the word everywhere. Those all problems will cost them a lot of subscribers soon, the MMO market is still growing and there will be a lot of other online games, way better ones. And if you consider FFXIV exists now since 2010; I wouldnt be suprised if this game dies in the next few years, cause more veteran players and the "new player stream" will disappear soon or later.

    Sure the developers cant think of everything but here, sorry guys but they SHOULD HAVE thought about that, it's pure logic. I cant believe they implemented their instance system without thinking, while the majority of their players use teleport to travel between maps, that it could be convenient to select the instance when teleporting and that it would be a hassle to be forced to travel to a limit of a map to change and come back with selecting the instance.

    Simply choosing the instance when teleporting would aready solve so much... And it already doesn't have to throw you into a random instance, since the eternity ring gets you to your partner's. I really don't know how SE made their code so it can't do that, and I am at the same time curious to know hoe exactly that works then and know that I would shriek in terror.
