If you take a look there's a ton of people saying they or their friends won't be able to pay for the game anymore after this and even people saying that even though they can afford the fee they won't be renovating their sub, which I think is talking about money.

There's also something else that influences companies: Reputation. If we expose bad actions from companies that can lead to huge losses for the company in question, consumer trust is sometimes more valuable than plain money, this game is a great example of that.

(And I never thought that you were defending SE, just that you were missing the point)

About ToS.
1) EU ToS doesnt have a recurring word. It just say subscription. It also does not specify that steam is not included in all fees.
FINAL FANTASY XIV Subscription Fee rates will be posted at http://sqex.to/ffxivfees_eu, and any changes to those rates will be posted with 30 days’ advance notice and notice will be provided to the Game community and by email to User’s registered email addresses.
And russians play on eu servers mostly and use eu ToS.
2) If we open a link we only see legacy sub there. So it either another broken ToS or way to loophole their ToS. Depending on the country its either SE fault for not posting non legacy sub or they can change any nonlegacy sub any time without any warning.
Because SE has money and lawyers it will be 2nd, so noone is safe now. Not even NA.

i gonna just point out a few thing, first price is dependant of the taxe of the country, example in europe we have a taxe that affect the pricing of online gaming.
we had the same issue with the secret world, where because of european taxe we was paying higher than US. then check if no new taxe on your side didn't appear before think SE try to screw you.

second did you try to contact Steam for see if is SE fault before come here? or contact SE for have a bit of answer? i doubt anyone gonna come answer on this forum about pricing. the best way is to contact the support for get an explanation.

But here's some food for thought: now that this has come to to the spotlight, if they reverted the price changes, how would they then justify the rest of the world paying more than the affected people?

thats why regional prices should be a thing in 2k17

Yes, Steam said its the dev who sets the exchange rate.

And yes, believe it or not, the only official answer we've had so far was posted ON THIS TOPIC by a representative. It's lost among hundreds of posts but it is in there.

I understand this is an important concern for many of you, and had hoped I would be able to get back to you yesterday, so you would not have to go so long without an update. As you have pointed out, we recently made adjustments to how prices in Brazilian Real and Russian Rubles are calculated for Steam users. These changes were made to bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure based on current exchange rates. In addition, these adjustments mean that prices now accurately reflect the pricing provided on our other official channels and currencies.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience while I worked to get this information for you. If people are finding additional pricing discrepancies outside of what was mentioned, please let me know, so they can be looked into.

I haven't noticed a change, and I'm an EU player.

Then again, I renewed my sub a few weeks back for a fairly lengthy time, so it might've gone past me.

same in eu no change, i feel is more a trouble with money change before that was not reflecting the right price.

for a 10.80 euro sub it give 39.52 brl
for the 12.99 euro sub it give 47.59 brl

1 euro = 3.6642 brl
then... maybe it more the pricing was put to the same level everywhere

and before someone say i try to defend SE, i just point out that it's highly possible they try to reflect the pricing of the different country and make every pricing the same... not smart but well...

Stuff like this happens in the USA all the time. Most companies reserve the right to change pricing at any time for any reason with or without notification.
There's nothing illegal here, so then we'd have to decide if we want to pay the higher price and keep playing or not pay and not keep playing.
