Steam payment HUGE price increase!

Here are my two kopeikas (Russian equivalent of cents):

This whole situation is just bizarre. The way things stand right now is that entry-level subscription in Russia costs 25.7% more than base game (880 RUB vs 700 RUB). Meanwhile in the rest of the world entry subscription costs 13 USD while base game is 20 USD; it's actually 35% cheaper than base game.

Now don't get me wrong: the price changes were bound to happen. The regional subscription prices were set before December 2014, when the Russian Ruble suffered almost a 50% devaluation. However, a) There should have been an announcement beforehand and b) The prices shouldn't have been increased as much as they were.

If we take the base game price as a starting point, the subscription price should be 65% of it. 700 RUB * 65% = 455 RUB. Still higher than the original price of 270 RUB, but a much more reasonable increase that goes in line with other MMORPG subscription fees in Russia (for example, World of Warcraft is 550 RUB).

There is 0 chance of a steam refund at this point, SB basically gave you the full value of a normal game anyways.

Due to the Canadian dollar dropping I have seen the price go up and up and currently and as full time student have a limited disposable income and have had to budget carefully if I wanted to keep playing, even taking a month or 2 off of the game at times.

Brazil and Russia are similar but your currency has dropped even more but had been allowed to pay the same price while SE received less and less so they are 100% justified in asking fair value from you guys.

Nobody is saying they aren't 100% justified in asking fair values. Why are you guys getting so fixated over that? Yes we are upset to be paying more but thats not even the main reason. We weren't warned at all, and the increase was RIGHT after we bought the expansion and can't get a refund on it. Some people would have not bought it if they knew about this.

First of all, the main thing to be said here is how disappointed I am with Square Enix. This was a great example of how you should NOT treat your customers. While I don't disagree whit price changes, the way they did it... Completely shameful.

I moved from EU to Brazil less than 2 years ago because of a work opportunity, and let me tell you something: regardless of currency rates, 13 USD/Euros and 42 BRL are completely different things. It took me a long while to get used to Brazil's currency, so I'll just use an example: My monthly energy bill here in Brazil is almost the same price as the game subscription.
So, while I can very well pay 42 BRL, knowing how their economy works, I wouldn’t encourage any Brazilian or Russian player to do so. It is miles away from what is fair, and for their reality. There is no support, servers etc in Brazil, and the lag spikes here are INSANE.

tl;dr: SE had a terrible customer policy and subscription is just not worth 42 BRL.

Honestly, seeing how SE terribly managed prices for their mobile games for non-stardart currencies, i'm not even surprised.

I would even admit that pricing the sub higher than the base game is a hilarious oversight if it wasn't this sad in hindsight.

I absolutely love this game, but the way you treat your players can be disgusting and unrespectful sometimes. To make your price 3x more without a single warning (looking at russia situation), that's beyond ridiculous.

It's not even a matter of affording the sub or not. I don't see any reason to support a game ruled by a company that doesn't care to write a post before making such change.

well i hope SE isnt that greedy, and gona reverse the monthly subscription price to a more reasonable local price.

while it dosnt affect me , SE should consider that not everyone earns that much monthly ^^
and just because money value decreases that dosnt mean that people are gona earn magicly more money :P

Exactly.
Obviously for some people beeing capable of afford the sub is a problem, but for a lot of us, beeing treated like that is like receive a punch. A single post or e-mail for those who have steam wallet option active is the minimum we expect since, by all means, until now, we payed for the game, for the subscription so we could receive beyond the capability do log in in the game servers, to receice support from SE team.

And in my opinion, changes in the charge system is not a minor thing to go silent.

Almost four years playing and supporting this game and we got a huge price increase and they simple don't have the care to notice us.

Why SE? I thought you are a very respectful company.
