I paid 28 BRL before, now I pay 42, how do we call that again? Oh yeah, a price change. One thing. SE did not break it's ToS as the price didn't change. Please stop spreading this misinformation. All that changed was bringing the steam version up to the price everyone else is paying. Basically, SE is now using the normal conversion rate as opposed to regional pricing.
That said, the problem most here have is the way SE did this. No prior warning at all and making this change right after releasing Stormblood. Also SE waited just long enough after release that they can't get a refund on the expansion. I know if this had happened to me I would be furious.

As I said already, this would be from a legal standpoint, as in it's not violating the ToS. I did not say I agree that this is ok as I do not. I feel that SE acted in a very shady manner about this.

No point posting this issue on reddit, just a glance in that thread and you can already see the same arguments about price all over again. No answer. No communication. Try on steam https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ers_and_other/

And what else... Awesome community can show youself (((
Looks like it's impossible to make people paying more sympathize with people paying less. To them it looks like they punished some evildoers and we got what we deserve.
I think it's time to give up. With such support from western community this is going to be swept under the rug, and our voices will fade when subscription time runs out.
Good luck everyone, hope you won't get to be in out shoes one day.
It is even worse on reddit. They are trying to claim SE DOESN'T Have to made announcement on price change. They felt it is unfair to rest of player base they pay lower price.
Don't count on the subreddit, you can already see disgusting comments defending the SE and downvotes on reasonable comments, the subreddit of xiv is the house of fanboy's, no criticism will have voice there. No answer. Airget, now you are spreading misinformation.
There was no loophole. Regional pricing is a comon practice and SE determined the rate on Steam. Some people are saying they "forgot" to fix but if that was the case, they would as soon as our currency droped from 2 reais / dollar to 3.
Also, it's not as if Steam was doing the exchange in an isolated enviroment. All the transaction was made THROUGH Mogstation when paying with the Steam Wallet.

I'm an indie dev with a steamworks account, and I can atest that the developer is free to set regional prices as he/she sees fit for each region independently. There is no limitation in that regard.
