Really lousy, they broke their own contract by not giving a 30 day warning. First the servers, now this.

What makes me really upset is that we had no warning before buying the expac. People already had to adapt paying more with VPN services, so knowing beforehand that the price would change so much after one single month, I would have reconsider my purchase. Feeling played like a fiddle rn.

So, here is the answer from my ticket:
Unfortunately, it would not be possible for us to provide a refund or to transfer any data between accounts. We are very sorry for any confusion or disappointment these changes may have caused.
In other words:
- U have old account with FF XIV
- U decide to comeback in SB, see that steam has region prices, think what will get/ lose, buy all pack in steam
- U buy all potions with lvl up and main scenario in order not to play classic once more when no1 is playing it
- Play FF XIV
- ???
- SE change prices to normal in steam and cant refund and change service accounts. Just because.
Dear SE. Am i correct? Ur support said to ask here. Im waiting for official answer. Thank you.

The price increase is a real shame. It's not exactly insignificant, and if I were in the affected people's shoes, I'd be pretty upset too.

Greetings, sorry for any English typos in advance.
Most people are aware now of the situation, and being aware, I too as a costumer and a breathing person have to say my part.
First, the great disappointment, comminng from a company as Square Enix with years of experience on the market, do something disrespectful as this. To change prices disregarding the reality of other countries which your players belong is something that goes beyond just the business factor. It's disrespectful with the people itself. And as far as business goes, this move is against your services own user agreement, giving us no warning at all about those changes, which makes sense for us to call it, unfortunately a purely disrespectful greedy move, and an unwise one at best, because you just lost many costumers and their trust. [...]

[...] I'm sad for the developers and artists involved on the game, and mainly, by the great ammount of players that are going to be affected by this and will be forced to just stop playing. Because for many of them, it's too much of a sacrifice now. It's just not easy to keep up with their reality with lower aquisitive power. Me and MANY others included. Now i think if it's even worth to continue to support it, making even more sacrifices if they just disrespected me.
And let's see this... This old vallue was already the standard vallue for these countries for more than 1 or 2 years, then of course it was aware of the "not accurate conversion" or whatever it's called. This was not a problem, if that much time has passed without a change and this is obvious. Square Enix on the last years has been trying to get it's ropes high again, since their overall profit was going down. [...]
I would really like if the prices were changed back to how they were once.
I will only give my brief opinion on all of this:
Every region has a different economy. So 15 USD in US has a different weight than 15 USD in Brazil. Some companies understand that. Blizzard for example, gives a different price for the monthly subscription for brazilians, because most of us can't afford to pay near 50 reais each month for a game. I think the same principle can be applied to russians.
I know that for most outsiders and even SQEX this may be unfair, but I honestly don't think it is.
Please, change back the prices.
This is not about being fair or unfair, it's just "good"shadybusiness. Quote from reddit.
"Using extremely simplified numbers let's say it costs them $8 USD a month per player in server maintenance, development, and other miscellaneous costs. That means their $12 sub is now generating $4 in profit. Let's assume then that they charge a Brazilian player the equivalent of $8 USD to lessen the financial burden to that region's playerbase. Their net profit from that player is now $0."
They should have made an official statement before doing the change tho.

And what about people from other countries that can't afford XXX amount? Why should some receive a discount solely based on where they live while others are denied based solely on where they live?I would really like if the prices were changed back to how they were once.

edit: I feel I should reiterate: People have every right to be upset about the lack of advance warning/timing. My reply is only meant to address the "our people are poor so we should get a cheaper price" because believe me, Brazil and Russia do not have a monopoly on poor people.

Maybe they were basing it on the number of ppl who actively play MMOs or games in general in those countries? Politics? (as stated previously, the EU agreement wont allow regional pricings) some countries might have similar laws or something. And they also don't have to implement it in the WHOLE world at the same time. "No one" would do that. I'm certain there is someone who would try, but it's much easier if you run a test in a few places first
