Yeah, because defending the dev team requires understanding, but attacking them (Calling them lazy, etc...) doesn't. Congratulations on winning the internet!
i win nothing so far and i asked if its because they are lazy. understanding of a net code you didn't see, servers you didn't see? all i want if for them do more customization or give the real reason for why not.
If they are limited to the options they can give us per data code or whatever was built on 1.0 coding, they should at least give us some new face options and colors. There are so many hair colors (bright red for example) missing from the game. New faces are not impossible. 4 faces per race with minor changes is NOT ENOUGH. Thank goodness for constant addition of new hairstyles, dyes, and gear so we may attain unique looks but still. Strip it all away, and facially there is not enough variety.
And we tried to explain to you that no, it is not because they are lazy but because:
- the code is extremly complicated so its not as easy as you might think
- the game wasnt build with a lot of customization in mind, so the code isnt built for that, so its difficult
- they dont have the resscoures to do everything and they placed new content over more facial options
- not sure if thats still valid but: they're lacking competent staff - and no, "hust hire more people" isnt as easy as you think either because first you need a decent person that you can/want to hire
Again... I would like more options aswell, but I can also see the reason why thats not so easy and why they might think that something else is more important. Tried to explain this to you, as you requested but if all you actually want to hear is "yes, you're right, those people who are working overtime for the game are lazy" I dont know what to tell you
Think about it this way, those online games with amazing character customization have it for a reason..in one way or another the gameplay is lacking, big surprise from a f2p huh? I played BnS for about 2 weeks and ultimately just stopped because I was so bored. Although we have limited character customization, we get exciting content and consistent patches.
This is a false comparison. The consistency/frequency of patch updates after release have very little to do with resources that went on early in development of the original game for character creation.Think about it this way, those online games with amazing character customization have it for a reason..in one way or another the gameplay is lacking, big surprise from a f2p huh? While I may wish for at least a few new face options for each race/gender, considering the Herculean efforts the FFXIV dev team went through to save this game from its 1.0 days, and considering the regular content patches they keep pushing out, the last word anyone should be using to describe the devs is "lazy".
How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
I've never seen anything mentioned about "code" in the live letters or a lack of resources for customizations. The only thing ever mentioned that I can specifically recall is memory limitations for characters and it was mentioned more than once. I don't care to go dig it up but I KNOW I read it.
I think it was either this past NA or EU fanfest when someone asked if they would ever add more customization like separating Au Ra horns and faces. They also said customization was not a high priority for the team.I've never seen anything mentioned about "code" in the live letters or a lack of resources for customizations. If Yoshi said devs would consider a butt slider if demand was high enough I don't see why they're dragging their feet over something thats actually asked for regularly.
