I edited the FFXIV_BOOT and it actually worked!I was able to get everything to work by doing the following:
1) Open FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in notepad.
2) Change BootVersionCheckMode to 1
3) Save and close the file.
4) Delete all the previous patch data under /downloads/ffxivpatch
5) Start the game and it should work.
Hopefully this helps!!

Felt like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noQsHiTJAXo hope this doesn't happen to me XD.
Also, worked, thanks.
Although I had no expectations for it to work, I went and tried a reinstall anyway. Same issue persists. Six days left on my sub, wonder if they will fix it before I just give up on it.
None of those techniques worked... same results every time.
What I've noticed is the launcher, which updated first, is showing version 2017.07.10.0000.0001(2671363). Where the update falls flat on its face is attempting to update ffxiv - 2017.07.11.0000.0000. Now, I know as much about patching as I do red herrings, but that seems a bit off, not to mention it's trying to update to, I assume, data from a week ago.
The resulting error message states:
Unable to update patch files.
[11006][20815][20866][19900][32]
C:/Program Files (x86)/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/game/ffxiv.exe
I've tried literally everything that was mentioned in this thread and elsewhere. Nothing's working. I was hoping to log in to tend my gardens before taking off for the evening, but that doesn't seem to be happening... hopefully this gets fixed by tonight when I get home.
SO oddly enough, while waiting for SE support I tried going into my C drive... Program Files (x86)/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/boot folder
From there I ran the ffxivboot app as an admin, and for some reason THAT allowed me to download the patch files
Dang, you got my hopes up there for a moment Syrus_Draco but that didn't work either. Thanks for sharing though
I was playing in the afternoon, all fine ... suddenly, later tonight, I can't access to the data center and throws me a 2002 error and shuts down the game entirely. ¿anyone else experiencing this after trying to get the update by doing the ffxiv_boot.cfg file thing?
*sigh*
No such luck. Still the exact same problem when trying to update, and nothing in the launcher regarding these issues, which makes me wonder how aware SE is of this. I'm at a total loss as to what to do next....
Edit: Ok, went through all this nonsense, and it turned out that all I needed to do was restart my computer. Excuse me while I go punt a random opo-opo....

Unfortunately as of now I have tried what I believe is everything including flusing dns and what not - the home network has no issues, firewalls off, vpns off, again the damn notepad thing. Nothing.
I don't expect a reply for SE either when I sent them a mail about the problem.
