So? Most potency buffing moves do sit in the range that AST will now, and despite how ugly that Balance nerf looks, making Spear a crit buff gives another very handy DPS boosting option that has basically no risk of messing up the player it's used on.

If it stacks with skills like Battle Litany and Chain Strategem, that could be intense!

Honestly I'd say it comes out as a noticeable buff because now AST's have TWO good cards to try for instead of constantly shuffling back and forth on the off chance they might get the Balance they need. Besides like Ametrine stated if the crit chance stacks with a SCH's Chain Strategem and Battle Litany I'd honestly say the resulting damage output far and away will make even the unnerfed Balance seem exceedingly weak.
