I don't remember any hard cap numbers given for MP. The only cap we got was for HP when the materia system was being developed, and it was said that the highest amount of HP you could get through materia was around the realm of 280. However, the highest value of HP from materia was stated to be 20, and that's not the case. People have tested and gone past whatever limit was given, so the caps are much higher.
