Irana, and others, there is a very simple yet powerful method of acquiring wealth.

    Specialization
... is the most important thing. For crafting, gathering, or battle... specialization is what separates the exceptional from the mediocre. You will never make more gil by levelling every class than you would have by simply raising a single craft to max and producing items at the maximum level. All the time and gil spent on raising different classes comes at the cost of gil you could have made from spending time on your best class. So, don't think that because you level every class to 50 you will have some advantage.

That said, for starting out... gathering is the best option. You can pick from mining, botany, and fishing. By doing the leves, you should have no problem figuring out how and where to gather.... and if you check the market wards after a gathering session, you will soon figure out what people want most. Meeting demand and providing items that people want is the role of a producer. Sometimes the hardest to get items are not the most valuable. Of the three gathering classes, you may choose whichever you prefer most, or you can try and figure out which class makes the most gil... but these conditions change often so it is far better to spend time on the class you find more enjoyable.

Now, because it is far better for everyone to specialize... if you are a Blacksmith.. do not bother farming ore for yourself. You are still paying for the ore in the form of time.... and time is money. If you spend time farming ore, when you could be smithing, you are losing gil. If you have the choice of either farming ore, or smithing, spend 100% of the time on the class that makes the most gil in the least amount of time. Buy all the materials you need from others.

A basic plan to follow, if these concepts are hard to grasp is the following: Level a single gathering class, sell what you gather and you will learn by trading through the market wards what is best. You should be able to decide what to do from this point on, but save your gil ^_^, saving is important.

Ironicly is just the basic of supply & demand, you see what needed the most supply (Get Information), once you know what to hunt down, go get ready and pray to god you dont get bored doing so(Go out and hunt the said item), do this for more than 10 stacks you will be sure to be able to get more gils.

Mark my words if you are lazy person like me, do not stop the hunt, get going till you reach at least 10 stacks of goods because you wont be able to do so again soonish...

so yea that what i did.. and now i have like never ending gils because i hunt out once a month. xD

Sell items dropped from monsters to NPCs or on the market wards. Even the most basic materials often have buyers when they're too lazy to hunt down or walk to wherever the item is sold by a vendor or dropped by a monster.

Do guildlevesThough pretty nerfed, it's still an easy source of gil for most of your needs.

my question is farm WHAT gather WHAT?
farm anything. Gather anything. Especially since the phasing out of a lot of excessive/unnecessary parts and materials, there's a fair chance someone wants the stuff you're getting and is too lazy to go out and get it themselves. Craft stuff and sell it. It might not be BIG money, but it will get the ball rolling. You could also try "merching"- that is, buying up overly cheap stuff on the market wards and trying to resell it for more. This is harder since the search function and price history, but can still be done to a limited extent.

Before I quit I was farming Sentinel gear dropped from "NMs" in the Strongholds. The 3 that I have found to be soloable (both in your ability to kill the mob and reaching its camp) are:

Lv52 Natalan Sentry: Drops Brass Natalan Coffer Key which opens the coffer nearby containing Sentinel's Gauntlets. 20% drop rate on key, 20% drop rate on the Gauntlets. Mysidia's prices were 500k~600k a few weeks ago.

Lv53 Natalan Sentry: Drops Copper Natalan Coffer Key which opens the coffer nearby containing Sentinel's Plate Belt. Same drop rates. 600k~700k last I checked.

Lv55 Zahar'ak Feretrar: Drops Brass Zahar'ak Coffer Key which opens the coffer nearby containing Sentinel's Sabatons. ~10% drop rate on key/item. Sold for about 2,000,000.

Of course, you can form parties to farm the remaining pieces which naturally will sell for much more due to the difficulty in obtaining them. Sentinel's Cuirass and Sentinel's Helm were last going for 5~7 million. Sentinel's Trousers I have yet to see, so..

The vague part: Find something in your inventory you have 99 of that you don't think you'll need. Look that item's price up in the market wards and sell it at a price lower than the lowest price.

    A few specifics:

Got a level 30 you want to work on and feel like doing a small bit of grinding? Kill Molting Mitelings in Nophica's Wells. Their Diremite Web sells for EASY money. Undercut the lowest selling price and put it on sale. That thread is a staple for their recipes.

Got a level 40-49 that you need to grind on? Gather up a group of your friends and go Raptor killing. They're nice and squishy mobs that still give decent exp even in 1.20. The new recipes use their skins - you can quickly get dozens of Raptor Skins that you can sell for easy, EASY money.

Tired of those two? Head to Nanawa Mines with a level 35+ character. Head towards the middle of Nanawa Mines - there should be a long vertical hallway with a lot of Bomb Embers that regenerate at a crazy fast rate. Start beating those up for exp. Their Bomb Ash is needed by level 25-30ish Blacksmiths for Steel Ingots. Compare against the market rate and sell it.

Players with a lot of money that are leveling their Leatherwork, Blacksmith, or Weaver as a secondary will be buying your stuff up. Some of these players want to level their crafts without putting work into gathering the items, so people like you who gets these anywaywhile they're leveling are perfect to buy off of.

I'm thinking a few people don't want to directly help you because if they specifically tell you what they sell, you may end up causing competition for them, which means less profit for them. It is business, after all. :P

As well, mobs' body parts that require incapacitation usually always sell well/decent. PGL's Concussive Blow will knock the horns off Aldgoats (East of Horizon) and Antelopes (Southeast of Tranquil). At one time, I was making 2m/hr. from incapacitating Green Megalocrab Shells when Crab Bow HQ was the hot item. The Wandering Wights in Mun-Tuy drop Steel Ingots fairly often, and there is a concentration of 10 of them in the upper Southwest corner. Wolf hides NPC for 600g each, often dropped by a group of 6 just to the Southeast of Humblehearth.

Used to be that I would look at the most coveted gear ingame, find its materials and/or the item itself and go get it.
