Yojimbo?
Was Yojimbo summoned, or is he another part of the Kugane Castle defenses? He looks near identical to how he does in FFX, so I'm just curious if there's any lore there as to who and what he is in the context of Eorzea.

He's a mercenary - apparently a very expensive one - hired by a faction within Hingashi that wants the whole country closed to foreigners, and was hired to help hold the residents of Kugane Castle and various foreign merchants hostage as leverage for closing the only port open to outside trade. Ultimately, his wages are unable to be met (due to our quick-footed thievery), and he abandons his employer after our fight with him concludes.
(also technically he has no Eorzean context, because he's Hingashan and thus Othardian, but that's just being pedantic).
"Yojimbo" is a term for a hired bodyguard. The conclusion one can draw from his appearance here is that he is a normal - if highly skilled - bodyguard, and he only does as he's paid to do, as he does in all his other franchise appearances (see X, where his ability depends on how much you pay him). He's a sellsword, a mercenary, and here he's working for a faction of the Hingan government that wants its borders closed to foreigners.
That's... about all there is to it, I think.

Well, I'm fairly certain that we'll be seeing him again."Yojimbo" is a term for a hired bodyguard. Maybe next time we can bribe him ourselves...
He is the blade of vengeance... they dare only whisper his name.
But seriously, my current prediction is that he's going to pop up in the hildibrand storyline. Maybe he's even assigned to kill us but somehow we bankrupt his employer. At which point he's like, "well since he's not paying me I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to kill you. See ya!"
Hildibrand, Greg, Godbert, and Yojimbo. Broforce time. Please look forward to it.
I'm convinced yojimbo is a voidsent
Yojimbo and airline food have this in common. Nobody seems to know what the deal with him is.
