Back before 4.0 they said they wanted the breathe new life into the tanks and healers—which was supposed to make people want to try the tanks—but botched that up from the get-go. Most jobs that were essentially perfect for 3.X were neutered or ground into the dust because of the ridiculous Cross Role system and their over-zealous pruning.

I wholly agree with you that most people who don't tank don't complain about the difficulty of the rotation, they just don't want to lead. Tanking is perceived as a stressful job by most, there are just those who don't and won't tank simply because a tank is at the forefront. That will never change no matter how much they dumb down the jobs, no matter what changes they implement to make them easier. All it does it piss off those of us who are already tanks, yet they seem to not understand any player motivations, and consistently ignore us when we give feedback of any kind.
