You say that like a PLD/DRK combo has to use a bunch of cooldowns to survive Critical Hit. You can easily survive with Awareness+Intervention+TBN. Cover is also up for every other Critical Hit so the PLD can Cover+Awareness+Sheltron for even more free mitigation.
Actually no, I'm saying it like war doesn't have to burn any of its mitigation toolkit unless they want to and can use it on fluff... Awareness cannot be used every critical hit so for warriors they can just weave holm for it and be done with it. A DRK or pld has to use resources. I'm fully aware drk/pld can survive them without burning a "bunch" of cooldowns... Switching to war was just beneficial as it usually is...
The damage taken/healed from Holmgang was actually what made the difference between my group getting LB3 or not before the Apanda when we were doing it, too.
For the record, on my DRK alt I never have trouble against Hally's critical hits.
1) Awareness 15 seconds before pulling
2) Shadow Wall
3) Awareness as Hally starts channelling the 2nd Queenly Waltz
4) Shadow Wall
5) Awareness as Hally starts channelling the 1st Holy Spellblade of final phase
6) Awareness on Critical Hit (no point in timing this one)
7) Shadow Wall
If I'm nervous, I can use Rampart to cover certain high damage phases (Like Holy Spellblade on me, or specific critical hits). TBN is preferred for Critical Hit, but not always needed, depending on how good the healers/offtank/melees.
Thank you to Chrono and others for being so adamant with their Dark Knight feedback! I really hope the devs eventually take note of all these complaints.
Here are some of my own suggestions.
DRK has a handful of skills that are underwhelming or have little-to-no impact.
Dark PassengerSole Survivor
- Increase the potency, or reduce the MP cost to make it worth using.
- Change the blind effect to something that doesn't contradict Blood Price.
Delirium
- Reduce the cooldown or buff restoration. Currently it doesn't even give enough MP for 1 Dark Arts...
- Give the skill a new effect (like PVP's damage taken debuff) to give it utility outside of trash pulls.
- Reduce the cooldown, or remove the blood gauge cost.
- Give it an entirely new effect to make it worth the long cooldown and 50 blood.
DRK is too reliant on the Soul Eater combo.
- Have Power Slash increase the blood gauge as well so that we aren't punished so much for using our enmity combo.
- Stop balancing DRK's DPS by increasing Soul Eater's potency - increase the potency of Bloodspiller or oGCDs instead.
Too many of DRK's core skills are unlocked at 62+, making it a slog to level up or play in 50 and 60 capped content.
- Change the order we unlock some of our skills.
- Let us unlock some of the blood gauge skills, like Bloodspiller, by level 50 and 60.
DRK's defensive cooldown suite is lacking compared to the other tanks, especially pre-70.
- Increase the duration of Shadow Wall.
- Add some kind of mitigation effect to Blood Price.
- Change the Dark Arts + Dark Mind effect to something stronger or with more utility (party-wide AoE??). TBN makes its current effect redundant.

I noticed that AST's Arrow card does not allow Blood weapon to be active and caster role action Mana Shift does not give DRK MP while Darkside is active...
Arrow doesn't affect the application of Blood Weapon in the slightest, both can be active at the same time, you must've done something wrong. Mana shift, Refresh, Ewer, nothing at all gives MP to DRK while Darkside is active, that's the way it has always been and likely will always be. Feeding mana to a DRK with Refresh would be amazing but likely too good for DA spam.

Dark Knight's Darkside tooltip clearly states that mana can not be received from outside sources other than your own incombat mana regen. If you were to turn off Darkside then yes, Manashift would work.
As for Arrow, it increases your attack speed, so there's either a cap on attack speed you can have without making blood weapon arrow broken for enormous mana regain or that as stated above, you must be doing something wrong.

It was likely Ewer.
