It threatens their place in groups, even if only in theory. So they want their class to be the best, and want to do what they have to keep it the best.
I'd say it is even more simple and foundational in human psychology than that.
Many people feel that by being part of a group that is at an advantage within whatever niche is being looked at, by association it makes them better as an individual within that niche, even though in reality they as individuals are no better and they are being artificially propped up by the advantages of the group they are part of.
When that advantage is called out and/or challenged, the individual feels personally attacked because by pointing out the advantage granted by the group they are forced to admit that they are not ahead due to individual merit but through advantages provided by the group. It hits them right in the ego.
This even occurs oddly enough from the opposite side too, in which a person that is part of a disadvantaged group will sometimes attempt to avoid acknowledging that disadvantage because they feel that being part of a group with a disadvantage then belittles them as an individual and reflects on their personal merit and capabilities. Basically they do not want to admit that they could in anyway be viewed as lesser even if it has nothing to do with them as an individual.
It's essentially the false sense of individual worth or lack thereof through association.
Pretty crazy and ridiculous, huh? Well that's people for you.

This is a topic I'm in the mood to write up my personal opinions on later tonight, but the cross-role system in a tl;dr failed to homogenize the tanks while keeping their core identities intact, and instead is just another point of derision
I am very new to DRK and tanking (currently LV 51), so I am oblivious to the many issues being discussed here and on the forum. However, I do have a suggestion with something that should be a quick and easy fix, but curious to the thoughts about:
Could Blood Weapon be changed to automatically cancel grit instead of having to manually do it? It is a huge annoyance to have to hit two buttons for one function. iirc, there is no gcd penalty for dropping grit and the devs want to simplify things, so why not?
More than likely going to be waiting next expansion for any MAJOR CHANGES given Yoshi-P's track record for balance adjustments for jobs that needed fixes still (i.e. AST Sects needing to be outside of combat to change...) although after what happened in Gordias they might be trying to go back to ARR defensive tank META but Gordias pretty much threw that out the window the moment speedkill META reigned supreme (i.e. skipping Soar)I am very new to DRK and tanking (currently LV 51), so I am oblivious to the many issues being discussed here and on the forum. I'd be glad if Grit was at least less "sticky". Hard Slash - Spinning Slash - Power Slash - Grit off. Off! Off i said!! Bloody hell AAARGGHH get it off me!!! *clicks furiously*Could Blood Weapon be changed to automatically cancel grit instead of having to manually do it? Hum... guys? There was an interview with Yoshi-p, with a question about Dark Knight. Here is what it says :
"PSU: You recently made changes to the Warrior job that has caused some dark knights to now feel slightly less useful in the end game scene, with certain moves like Dark Passenger feeling much less useful. Are there any plans to address these potential balance issues?
Naoki Yoshida:
While we are always looking closely at community opinions on adjustments, the team currently feels that these recent changes have not made a largely visible disparity between the classes. Many players are tackling the Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate) and the trends in strategy and party composition is also a big indicator for us as well. However, I do not think it wrong to say that the contribution warrior can now bring with Shake it Off is more visibly apparently when compared to dark knight."

Why i feel yoship avoid the "certain moves like dark passenger" part? Was like "Drk is fine but yeah WAR shine a bit more now"

Very thankful for the interviewer for getting the question through at least.
While the disparity is very minimal, it's still somewhat depressing playing a job that has little strengths compared to the other two tanks. Especially when the gameplay isn't rewarding enough. Many people continue to play for the aesthetic.
