There are plenty of bosses from former games that I absolutely love, but I believe they have no place making an appearance, even a cameo, in another numbered FF installment.

Iconic monsters and certain NPCs (like a Cid type) are fine, because they are unique in some way to each game. But to pull famous villains from other games just doesn't feel right in another numbered FF.
