SMN Garuda dying in HW (and SB?) dungeons

    Hello all.

As I've been levelling through Heavensward as a SMN, I've noticed that in every dungeon Garuda is dying at some point (presumably to AOE, isn't seen by the healer, I can't afford the time and stand still space to physic her up, and physic is useless).

I can't imagine ifrit would be much better and was hoping for either a physic buff (scale to INT) and/or the return of sustain but given the latest Q&A, neither of those are likely to occur with 4.05.

My question then is how do people manage? With the amount of dodging it doesn't seem practical to risk trying to move her when standing in bad myself. Just resummon?

Also will it still be like this in Stormblood?

Don't expect healers to heal your pet. Since it doesn't even show up in party list anymore it's gotten rather annoying to target it. If I'm on healer I will heal it if I see its hp dropping and I'm not busy with the party, players come first.
If the pet dies, just resummon it.

If the healer is good he'll notice the pet is dieing and throw a regen at it. But I understand we shouldn't expect all healers to meet the extremely high bar of 'good'.

Oh please. Don't give us any of that BS. Healers don't have time to heal pets. We're too busy healing that stupid tank who pulled half the dungeon and isn't using any CDs. We can't be responsible for everything. And I say this knowing full well all the SMN flaws. I've been maining Sch/Smn since ARR. My pets die all the time. It isn't the healers job to fix bad game design.

Our pets die to everything. Look at it crossly and it falls over dead.

I just Swiftcast/Summon and hope no one in the party dies before the Swiftcast goes off CD. Or if no Swiftcast I will long cast the summon if I have time during other CD's. With the new setup and shorter CD's this is less likely unless I've just been raised myself.

One logical, may not be that of a easy thing to do, to do is put the pet on the party window. Not only would it make it easier for healers to target and help out, but it would also most likely also allow your chocobo to target them.

This is the only thing that keeps me from leveling a summoner, it is just bs that your pet takes damage from mechanics and you have no way to keep him up.

Like... WTF? Just make the pet immune to aoe attacks comming from npcs or just give the SMN something worth casting to keep the pet up. Ressumoning the pet is a lot of dps loss, since you want to use your mana to cast ruin IIIs not summon a pet.

Nah, pets do take damage from certain aoes not just cleaves (like full area wide ones etc) so it is a pain if it takes damage and you don't see it getting it's HP topped up by the healer.

Not even talking about targeting a pet with a controller when half the screen is filled with enemies. Let me click left or right 20 times until I target the pet.

Pet being healed by aoe heal would be a good start
