Why are you still playing?

Today I just log in, see the cheerful Christmas Music, go do the Rain Deer outfit, then I just log off. What have FFXIV become? Many of us want the game to be truly amazing and fun to play. It been a years now and I'm still bored out of my mind. I can't do any of the Primal Battle because it need 8 people, same with Moogle. Ifrit is frustrating then fun, then the Moogle one is just the same repeat contents. What is with FFXIV instances? In 1.21 they say we putting in more Instances, 2 of them!!! Didn't even put a smile on my face at all because Instances in FFXIV is the worst kind I have see in any MMORPG. What is with Instance and time limit rushing through everything and touching stuff. Yeah that's a lot of fun.

Because Yoshi-P and the Dev team are working very hard, putting countless hours of work into this game. The loyalty and dedication they have shown is admirable. I respect their work ethic, and their hard work is starting to pay off, the game indeed IS getting better.

Also, believe it or not I enjoy the game.

I enjoy the game, and have, and enjoy seeing it evolve into what it should be. It's come a long way, players who can't see how far it's come since it launched, have a short memory.

That being said, I enjoy playing with my friends, and my family. I enjoy questing, the story, the world, and all the updates, I'm very excited for 2.0 and am enjoying the different things leading up to the worlds destruction.

I play for the cut scenes, the graphics, the game play (love the new class changes in 1.20 really makes battles fun).

I play for the boss fights, the the link shell fights, the drama on the forums and in the game. The friends that I make, and the joy in helping new players find their way. I enjoy the game because I can go into a place, have an adventure, make a lot of gil, or lose it all on a gamble.

I play for the music.

I play because I keep getting drawn back into the game, it's great to take breaks, but really like XI, XIV is the game that I'm most excited about, I think it has the most potential, and even if it doesn't have the most subs, I play because the people I play with are fun.

So I am posing a question to these ppl... Why are you still playing?

I imagine that the OP may have a genuine interest in understanding why this phenomenon exists, but when I witness it I usually file it under the heading of "people like to complain on the internetz." Every forum for every game I've followed since the mid-90s has been that way.

Lots things to do, see and try in game.
sometimes I just on my chocobo and walk all over the place. I made lots new friends in here. We all have similar goal. It's a good thing and small fee to enjoy.

Because I enjoy dicking around and playing with friends and the game is nowhere near as bad as people on this forum make it out to be, despite glaring flaws.

Because this game would go to hell if it only got positive feedback, but it's not like SE is listening unless it's for something stupid as dyes.

But there's plenty of constructive criticism on the site already. It's just that most people here feel they're entitled to SE catering to them and only them.

i still play only because i made a great group of friends in game and enjoy playing with them. i'll still be paying just to spend time with them because i enjoy that, but as far as "is this the game i had hoped it would be originally?" no.

i bought the game because the vision is what i have been wanting out of a mmo. i made some great friends over the last year and enjoy playing with them even though i like the game less than i did on release. i play mmo's to play with friends. if the game was released today i would have not even purchased the game, but will continue to play it because of the friends i have made.

Because I still have faith that the game will become better in a few months time. Much like a mother who gives "tough love" to her child by rebuking them from time to time (but in a constructive manner), I stick around, because I can generally see the game going in a good direction, but it still needs the help of the community to keep them "in check" if they make mistakes that are detrimental to the good of the game.

tl;dr - I'm stubborn, and I refuse to see the game for what the naysayers call it, yet I also refuse to see the game as "perfect" according to what many defenders call it.
