I was upset with the idea of a cast time increase. I'm so happy it's just a potency nerf. Very welcome!
Friend played Paladin ONLY since ARR... FIRST thing he said is.. "Holy Spirit is getting nerfed, and I can't wait for all these shitty meta tanks to go away. It needs nerfed." He was right. Unfortunatly, I dont think it was nerfed enough to really notice a change. lol.
For all the doom and gloom, PLD, WAR, and DRK still have similar dps. I think someone got PLD still at a slight advantage even with the nerf. I play WAR and PLD and welcome the change for the most part, as no more clunk when switching stances.
Only time I use Holy Spirit is to build my Oath Gauge up to do Sheltron, so the potency nerf does not really bother me. We are supposed to be the wall after all. that is what PLDs excel at.
Although I haven't gotten anything besides Warrior to 70, and still have to level the other two tanks, it looks like DRK has to do a lot more work to break even DPS with the other tanks, and suffers the lowest in physical mitigation (whereas Warrior has the issue that the only advantage they have over DRK is lost when dealing with large groups).
Every time you cast Holy Spirit in Shield Oath it gives you 20 free Oath Gauge. PLD's rotation let's them cast roughly five Holy Spirits per minute which let's them refill there Oath Gauge to 100, allowing them to use Sheltron twice per minute (which restores MP.) It's such a smooth and beautiful rotation now. Love how everything synergizes.
