this entire post is pretty funny considering the fact that whether or not se is keeping monk barebones or unsatisfying to you, they gave them a raid buff which is pretty much enough for people to want them over a SAM. Period
not to mention monk is currently the strongest melee rn lol
I don't really agree with certain monk skills being useless. They are all situationally useful which I think is ok. Things don't all need to be raid utility or used every fight imo. From skiming this thread the idea I like the most is more options for spending chakra. Oh and a temporary GL4 state sounds interesting like how Drg only gets LotD state for temporary duration. For the arguably stale old pugilist GCD combos you could trait some into new upgraded weaponskills with additional effect that alters how often they need to be used.
Anyone ever run into a situation where one Inch punch was consistently useful?
I literally took one-ilm and Arm off my hotbar because I used them so seldom.
Monk was the second class I ever leveled in this game. It holds a special place in my heart, even if I switched to Samurai as main. I just got my monk to 70 recently in Stormblood and I wish that positionals weren't SUCH a focus. It's fine to have a few like Dragoon and Samurai do, but it just feels like a layer of superficial complexity to me. I get that this is monk's "quirk" and it's play-style revolves around it, but I wish we could focus more on building up chakras in a way that's meaningful, similar to how Samurai builds Kenki or Ninjas build Ninjutsu.
(yeah, yeah I know..I'm waiting for the "go play that job, then" comments) >_>
"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - HAHA no that's sacred.
The uses for the abilities come with time. But you are right on the one-ilm punch. Very role-of-the-dice whether it is useful. Not really something that can be easily fit into a monk's rotationI literally took one-ilm and Arm off my hotbar because I used them so seldom.

Yes they’re better than monk when it comes to utility etc, but monk brings the highest damage
