Making a job unrewarding and "go play another melee" is not an answer.
Their idea behind Stormblood was that you should be able to play any role job without too much consequence.
They also said they wanted to decrease the difference between "casual" players and "elite" players.
I don't see much of this actually implemented with Stormblood at all.
Players (globally) being unhappy with current Monk is evident with the question asked in the Live Letter itself. The player-base is unhappy with it fullstop, there is no denying that.
Their excuses for not making changes are weak at best, and only a "trust us, there's nothing wrong with your job at the moment, all the feedback we have is negligible" excuse is a poor response.

They don't even necessarily need to "buff" monks per se, but at least make it fun again to play.

Someone on Reddit suggested these points which actually makes quite good sense:
    • Remove the five second cooldown on Forbidden Chakra.
    • Just get rid of Tackle Mastery and replace it with something that doesn't suck. - This is actually another useless skill Monks were "given".
    • Have Brotherhood affect the caster.
    • Have the chakra generation during Brotherhood be proc'd from weaponskills AND spell casting.
    • Make Riddle of Earth refresh your GL timer on use instead of on-damage.
    • Revert the potency nerfs on most of the Monk GCDs. Why was this even necessary? Mnk still does less damage than Sam and about the same as Nin yet has a whole bunch less utility.

And note that they said Ninjas got a small nerf, but it's not that huge to warrant such a small disparity between it and Monks.
