    I totaly agree that monk is just boring as hell,i played it since 2.0,when i saw he had no new offensive skill,only buff,i just went on the RDM,

    Every other class had new gameplay new skill,and monk, "take your 2 buff and shhhhh" seriously there is so much thing youc ould do with monk to make it fun,change the effect of his fist,becausemost of teh time time it will be fist of fire for fight,wind for city,and earth for when you take damamge and youc ant hit the boss

    The Monk is so basic that its not fun at all to play it,And that riddle of fire OMG,everyone who play monk play it for the speed,what do they give us ? a slow down,do they even play the game or listen to people playing it ?

    I still love how they kept talking about getting rid of useless abilities and they left monk with a bunch of useless abilities, and even added a few new ones

    I'm apparently in a very small minority that thinks Deep Meditation is horrible thanks mostly in part to how much RNGesus hates me. I mean I hate RoF, RoE, and Tackle Mastery too but from the looks of the threads of the past few days. Deep Meditation is just accepted.

    You're not a minority. Deep meditation is well criticised as rng on rng. It was actually critisied before stormblood came out by players who got invited to the promo events but that feedback was ignored.

    i really think they either believe they are right on them build or simply don't have the time or manpower for do the change that the monk need. (more it will recquire a lot of investment for correct this mess)

    that why no change was made on the monk when the situation was not good. monk is less wanted than at the end of the hw and no change for try to save it from this situation.

    what bother me, it's no omega savage will make this build shine... it's impossible from the start... since this build is bad from the start. we are maybe the second in dps, but we are the one the less picked because of this, our utility is too bad for be really interesting. and our damage can't compare to the sam... means we are in the position that we are the black sheep of all the jobs around, we don't deal enough damage for make up for our utility and we don't have a utility really interesting for make up for the dps.

    meaning we are unneeded? and it's not the nerf of ninja that will change that... the idea to give the monk an utility and only buff for a whole expansion... is from the start bad. we are... no we was the egoist dps, the jobs that had no utility that was interesting to bring in raid. but our dps was the best covering for this...
    the trouble of the end of HW, was not the lack of utility, but the fact that our dps was not strong enough for make us needed. what bother me, it's why try to add an utility, when you add the sam that have the same role that what was the monk before... instead to create a healthy competition between sam and monk, one more based on shining into a physical team and the other shining into a magical team...we did ended with only the sam.

    the monk was throw into a situation worst than before, he do have a utility, but not great... and his dps is not strong enough... then... no raid will change this statement. we cant allows that a jobs is only working in a possible raid that only, at best, 8% of the community will do... it ridiculous, it's stupid, it's crazy... it's madness *look around for be sure to not get a front kick*

    all of this for say... it's a crazy situation where a jobs is second dps, but end to be the less desired for raid... that kinda point out that number don't make up for everything? that a gameplay is important too...

    honestly i don't see them do anything, because for solve this, they will need to rework the monk alone, rework everything for make it evolve and be appealing for a raid... they will need to scraps skill add new skill... and honestly i don't see them do it.
    then it leave us with a sad statement... we are fucking screwed for 2 years... if them goal was to save the monk of the #deletemnk... they have failed miserably.

    ps: sorry for the language, but when you have played a jobs for as long than me and get this sort of treatment you get hurt... it can affect even your pleasure to play the game... so far the only bad thing i can really point of stormblood is this... and it's arrive to make me hate this expansion. and the worst, is the lack of communication we get... it's like they are disconnected with us. it's extremely sad. and show one more time, that a test server is definitly needed... because any monk player will have seen it coming.

    From Heavensward to Stormblood the chakra system did not evolve. They gave us two new ways to build chakra (good) but no new ways to spend it. In fact, they eliminated one of the uses of having 5 stacks, and nerfed the potency of the other skill. This barely increases the experience/fun playing Monk at 60 to 70. Square needs to realize that only being allowed to spend this resource when it is maxed is the least flexible of all of the job gauges in the game. It must be full to be used in anyway, and there's only one skill of interest at that point? This is a major flaw and suggests that either Square doesn't care about how this job is played or the guy who is designing gameplay around it is a bore. Riddle of Fire is not fun to use. It's a damage buff - yes,a large one, but nothing that puts us ahead of the pack - it simply keeps you in the game. From level 60-67 (before you get it) Monk easily falls to 3rd place or lower for DPS without it. Riddle of Earth is the dumbest thing ever. It requires two unavoidable hits in a row to get the damage reduction, and the GL3 refresh is subpar. Instead of a way to refresh/maintain GL3, how about a way to gain it quicker?

    Tackle Mastery fml what is this? Do they realize they made Steel Peak a flat damage increase that should only ever be used immediately off cooldown?

    This is what Monk's need to feel like things are fun post 60:
    1) A way to spend chakra flexibly. Maybe a GL4 type buff can be unlocked after unleashing 5 chakra.
    2) Choices that force us out of the 2.x rotation of DK->TS->Dem->BS->TrS->SP monotony
    3) True North needs to come off of cooldown sooner so it's not nearly as annoying to keep up with positionals (something that has only gotten harder since 2.x) during certain fights. This skill is an annoying "must have" for a Monk cross-role action during some fights while still being annoying to decide when to use. For the fight where hitting positionals is a problem, we need this skill so often and for such small windows of time that the current cooldown/duration balance of it is just off. This skill as it stands now is more like a tease..."you need me so often but I'm probably on cooldown."
    4) Perfect Balance needs to come off cooldown faster. 180 seconds is prohibitively long for a skill that still takes 5 GCDs on top of it before putting Monk in fighting shape. They noticed Benediction was too long but not this skill? Perhaps if they made whatever they were going for with Riddle of Earth sensible they could leave this cooldown alone. As it stands now, they failed.
    5) Give us ways to spend a GL stack for situational DPS trade offs. There may be interesting choices on dropping a stack right before a coeurl GCD gets used which would allow us to earn it back immediately.
    6) GL4 could be introduced as a very temporary buff state that also opens up tier 4 level combo actions (or maybe is only unlocked by certain actions) and ends up being something that cannot be maintained indefinitely. Integrate GL4 state with some existing skills to potentially have different effects under it. This could combine with #5 in that spending a single G4 stack that is going to be gone anyways is an optimal timing for when to spend the resource that is about to be capped.

    Monks don't need to be DPS kings but they should be fun and rewarding to play. There should also be a reason raid groups want them in the party. Right now the only reason why Monks may be invited to the table is because we still do relevant DPS when played well, but no one cares about Mantra or Brotherhood. Ninja bring relevant DPS and more utility.

    I want to like my monk but every time a phase change or mechanic forces me to lose my stacks (which happens a lot in this game) I feel like a sad kitten. Even if you work hard, form shift and such you may not stand a chance.
    Meanwhile on other classes I just grab my beer and just wait for the boss to be back.
    Since PP will be on CD most of the time why not allow form shift to keep stacks alive while in fists of wind. Or freeze timers until you get hit while fists of earth.

    Not even talking about the load of worthless skill. They take our touch of death and fracture away but decide to keep THIS?

    That's basically the opposite of the problem.

    Monk's DPS is great in spite of the problems its skills have. To list some of them out.


    1. Fists of Wind/Earth, Purification, One Ilm Punch, and Arm of the Destroyer are all useless, Tornado Kick is so highly situational it may as well be useless.
    2. We lost Touch of Death and Fracture which was basically where the fun of Monk's rotation was. Unlike other melee we didn't even get a GCD to replace what we lost (Ninja gets an Extra Gust Slash in exchange for Mutilate, Dragoon gets extra combo finishers).
    3. Brotherhood's usefulness swings between "Amazing" and "Terrible" depending on party composition in 8-mans and it's almost always terrible in 4-Mans.
    4. Riddle of Fire's slowdown feels bad and is at odd with the entire class.
    5. Riddle of Earth is incredibly unreliable based on where you are in your rotation when the boss jumps, you're essentially fucked if the jump happens any time other than immediately after refreshing your stacks. Also it's entirely redundant with PB.
    6. Deep Meditation actually makes monk worse at mitigating damage lost during boss Jumps or phase transitions since you can now enter the phases with 1 or more chakras (Bonus points for when you get your final Chakra the instant before a jump).
