It would definitely be a lot better if they made movement during casting drastically slow casting down rather than cancel it entirely. Same should go for being hit, no more hard interruptions for a vanilla smack upside the head. Casters in XIV aren't glass cannony enough to justify repeated breaks in their ability to attack, and the mechanic is there for nothing more than flavor/tradition at this point.
That then goes into the problem of players needing to use movement to cancel casting at critical times (like accidentally starting a Verthunder/Aero without Doublecast), although not many are aware that pressing the ESC button does that too.
