They do cache some things client-side, though, and they've mentioned willingness to expand it to other things in future as needed. So the capability is there, it just seems to be paranoia over abuse which is crippling them more than any technical limitation.

Personally, I'm glad for their stance on modding. If anything is important enough in terms of QoL/gameplay to be modded in then it should be part of the base game for everyone; there's no excuse for not doing it. WoW was a huge mess in this department back when I used to play it. And that's one reason why I subscribe to FFXIV and not WoW.

The glamour log resolution will solve so many secondary QoL issues that it's almost ridiculous. I hope we hear some solid progress on this issue soon.
