I was trio'ing with some LS members on my THM and I was taking care of any links since I could kill them pretty instantly and normally we would only get one link at a time.
Thing that bums me out is, with the current monster groupings and respawn rates, but also no crowd control abilities, its almost like you need to have 8 person TP burn parties to successfully party. Small man parties are much more difficult to create and find manageable areas due to this. Seems the overall direction is TP burn to cap and that is when the game will really begin! Dungeons! Yay! Unfortunately most people won't understand the basic mechanics of the game because they zerged their way to the end....makes me sad.

Guess its my experiences with FFXI but I actually enjoy having challenging 'grinding' to cap.

    sorry will stop ranting...

Uh.. there are crowd control abilities. ARC has Shadowbind, THM gets Heavy and Bind from Blizzard/Blizzara, CNJ gets Heavy from Stonera. They're pretty damn reliable too, getting a bunch of adds in that 3 man group i was talking about i could Blizzara and bind landed literally 90% of the time. Stun moves can also be used to hold enemies in place too, Pounce stun lasts a good 10 seconds or so. Just gotta adapt and look at moves differently. Also making sure to keep moving while camping and staying against edges of spawn areas helps avoid respawns ganging up on you.

Aren't you always going to be spamming a button at some point in time? Oh, and for those of you who said that all you had to do was spam x in FFXIII, stop lying there are many times where you MUST select your own abilities. Try beating the to berries by just spamming x. :P

The OP was not in the fashion most learned and eurdite ever posted; however the battle tactics are not FFXIV's strongest point (excluding crafting which is slightly more repetitive than battle)

well i wrote this whole thing about my feeling as a low level new player, but i accidentally loaded a new page and lost it all so screw it not writing it all again.

he game is boring and i dont know what i doing admittedly.

the game needs more action but not become a hack and slash i needs to stay how it is but faster and with more user input, but keeping true to how it is now.

i had alot more but i really dont want to retype it up just for people to disagree because im new and a "noob who does not understand"

speaking of which i also find it even more boring that you are not taught the mechanics though the main story.

all i really want to say right now is, the game should not be just fun for the high levels, it should be a fun journey i should be having fun right at level 1.

instead i get a boring system where i dont feel like im in another world where im fighting for my life (i am of course referencing the beginning sequences) everything seems idle and i just keep being brought back to the real world by how bored i am. The boredom slaps me in the face making me unable to dive in like i want to.

i want a system that is fun from level - leading up to level whatever. so i can have a fun journey, not a long chore before i get to a high level where i have fun with a few things called endgame.

hell i want to keep journeying finding new things saving people and having from every moment i can. failure to deliver that fun at the beginning of my adventure just does not make me want to pay to do this chore until i get to a higher level.

and i guarantee you wont see many new players because of it. i see FFXIV shriveling up at this point. To afirm my point, when i do play i only see the odd person, in the start town, and when i do see them they dont stop to say hi to the noob. no helping hand at all. they just run off to do whatever.

Your opinion is more valuable than you may think. First impressions are the most important ones, and if a new player is not having fun, SE needs to know and needs to figure out how to make those first levels fun in order to capture the new player. Bad first impressions are often the only impressions a player will have of a game, and SE would do well to figure out how to eliminate those.

The only advice I can give is that the less-interesting aspects of the game seem to fade into the background once you have some people to play with. If you haven't done so, check out your server forum and introduce yourself in order to get connected with people. It sucks that you felt put off by others in game. Sadly, there is no easy indication whether a random player in game is a new player or a veteran taking out a new class.

Also remember, it is still a work in progress, so things are going to change from their current state.

i have a problem with that. I know its a MMO and its meant to be played with others, but when there is about 0 other new players around because of the boring as can be battle system, dragged out cut scenes and tons of walking past the same looking areas, its hard to find someone in your level range the group with. and not only that but everything at this level can be done by a single person with no trouble at all without even needing to use skills whats the point in finding another person. to make it easier?

im just not feeling it, im not feeling community either at least not in the early bits. the server i play on is touted for Role-playing but i hardly see it. there also must bot be many reasons to head back to the early stages of the game because its nearly a ghost town all day.

i want this mmo to be great it has potential but the game is just boated with a ton of bad decisions and its boring to do much.

but you should not have to hide that by grouping up it should be fun for soloing especially in the lower levels

Of course not. Bump up the difficulty to account for another. You'd be surprised the difference even one traveling companion makes. And even when you are adventuring alone, having someone to talk to on the other end of a linkpearl also makes a difference. I can understand how you feel. It is a pretty boring game when you are alone in the wilderness without a phone. But once you get involved in the social aspects it'll be better. Sadly, linkshells tend to associate mostly with their own. On top of that server populations are low, making the search that much more difficult.

    well of course.

but do the older people (who are pretty much the only people left) really want to help out the new player and get them accustomed. and would we really want a older player to plough thought he enemies for us? personally i kinda want to play alone for the first bit so i dont weigh down other players while read though the story, and i dont want things to be too easy. i guess when i have to grind someone else to have fun with would help but yet again there is no one.

people dont bother even saying hi to a person walking past. but i guess thats how people act in MMo's. one of the things i never liked about them. and like i said before, theres little reason to go back to starter areas from what i can gather.

and theres nothing to entice a player to help out younger players like some games have.

I don't really think a faster combat system would solve anything for us. I want to reserve judgement and see how the jobs effect combat.
