NO!Every single battle needs to test your skill as a player. An auto-attack system and static SP don't provide that feeling of satisfaction.

Yeah, a faster paced battle system like XIII-2 would be fantastic. Or just... faster paced. I was hoping the combos would be more fluid as well, but it just seems very slow. A lot of people are right when they say it appears sluggish. They CAN make auto-attack work at a much more enjoyable level. Malakhim is also right when the enemies should require true strategy to beat.
C'est Vie ou Mort!

What Betel said. I'm hoping they add back a couple instants for each class, at least the melees.

At the moment if, if battle was any faster then we would have a couple of effects to follow:
1.) Some fights end too quickly to be interesting
2.) Party Vs. Mob Party will be way too chaotic to handle. This party vs party aspect of the game was something i didn't think was executed well in the beginning and now feels like a dream.
I am not against speeding up the pace of battle in terms of pure speed, but hopefully its to something that is balanced to make things interesting and not too trivial and that it is balanced well with our cooldown timers. This will have to come in with the new server structure as a base.
If the OP is truly only level 19, then he has some right to complain as at that level you do not gain access to a lot of the fun abilities and cross class combinations. That said, you have the ability to learn the new classes from the ground up and not just think that the combat system is now just combo or bust.
Solo Grinding is still boring as hell, so dont do it.
As for the other people who have raised the fact that we have no more AOE's, slow tp build and long cooldowns, I agreed with you initially but after spending more time with the patch i think that the balance is very well designed and makes the party play i've been in extremely interesting. However, i can understand that going solo up the levels may be bleh status. I haven't tested that out myself. If so, test things out for yourself and then raise a topic here on the board: "Party play great, Solo play snore, please address this"
Hello Everyone!I am a studying animation student at the Unversity of the Arts in Philadelphia. I am originally from southern California.
I agree, but the game as is pretty much forces a new player to do just this. There is no General chat, there is no level chat, there is no one talking in-game. Join a linkshell, well most random linkshells are just as bad with no one talking or grouping.
There aren't the social tools to build a community. If you could do leves while you lfg, that would be much better.
The way the game is now, it is very frustrating for a new player. The game seems dead because there are no chat channels.
I like the combos, it makes it a little better. The pace of combat was sped up once. They probably need to speed it up a little more. Just like sheathing/un-sheathing your weapon was sped up. Take out some animations, speed more animations up. There is things they can do, I don't believe that combat cannot be faster. Get creative.

I dislike the combos because you can't use them for anything useful when they require positioning. You can't run around Ifrit to attack his side without risking the mages and the moogles turn and move too quickly to line up combos as well.

Duh, hop on the ARC bandwagon, worst you do is run in close> keen flurry > quick nock>return to 8yalm+ away for moogles
or for ifrit you go thm and manaburn
notice the similarities to the bandwagon choices? NO POSITIONING!!!! >.>

Choosing between 4 unique combo sequences hardly counts as strategy.
Can't tell if you're serious or not, so...
The lack of positioning requirements should not be distinct to a few select classes, classes that not everyone likes I might add. That is blatant (or negligent) class favoritism that needs to be abolished.
