http://imgur.com/a/pKydy This is a ghetto spreadsheet I did comparing the DPS of each of the classes at all percentiles besides MIN and MAX, as the are outliers. This doesn't include the utility classes provide, however while difficulty is subjective, there is a general consensus on the easier and less punishing and the harder and more strict classes that can't really be argued. Couple that fact with these numbers to understand why there is an imbalance; Why RDM is not only powerful but the only caster that synergises with physical DPS which outnumber casters 2:1 anyway while being stronger than most of the DPS is an issue. BTW RDM can also emergency res and heal.
EDIT: MNK is supposed to be 3rd but that is a typo.
P.S.S: Here is some more info based on the 75th percentiles for DPS and kill times:
SAM = 3604
RDM = 3371
NIN = 3327
DRG = 3141
SMN = 3122
MCH =3103
BRD = 3163
MNK = 3365
BLM = 3238
On a regular 75th percentile susano run rDPS (about 18,750):
RDM + Embolden = 3511
NIN + Trick = 3645(!)
DRG + Litany and Dragon sight = 3,322 (kek)
+ disembowel on a 75th percentile brd (roughly 4% dps) = 3448
SMN + devotion = 3148
MCH + Hypercharge: 3313
BRD + all the shit BRD provides: 3556
MNK + Brofist: 3486
BLM + nothing lel = 3238
Ranking based on total contribution at 75th percentile:
1 - NIN
2 - SAM
3 - BRD
4 - RDM
5 - MNK
6 - DRG
7 - MCH
8 - BLM
9 - SMN
Obviously it isn't this straightforward, but this is just a general idea. This doesn't include non offensive utility (NIN, BRD, RDM, MNK, MCH and SMN) or specific synergy (the casters are the bottom 2, so it doesn't matter anyway) or factor in how lenient these classes are (Ironically the 4 most lenient classes are the top 4 kek) and finally this is the 75th percentile, so this is pretty much someone who knows how to play the game decently but not at the top level where information is spotty due to padding via specific comps and the Balance, I think 95th percentile would be the best test for this so I'll have that info in a jiffy.
