The music in Stormblood is very good indeed! But I am personally of the opinion that Heavensward (3.0) was a bit superior in that regard. Of course, this is subjective. Either way, both are improvements over ARR music.
However, one thing bothers me. In ARR, there's different versions of the battle song based on the maps. The battle song in Coerthas Central Highlands is different from that of Southern Thanalan, for instance. I wish they'd made different versions at the very least between Gyr Abania and Othard maps. Ah, well, I'm nitpicking.
Innocence doesn't mean an absence of wickedness, nor is it represented by the absence of anger or hatred. Innocence is when seeing others hurt also hurts you. When one becomes blind to the people suffering in the world, that is what it means to have lost one's innocence.
It's good that music is a non-count word. Primals aside, a lot of these SB themes seem indistinct from each other. Is there one song with a few variations? A few songs? Hmm...
Honestly not that impressed by this expansion's musical suite, personally. But, glad you like it!
I feel like the "from a similar theme" went a bit too far this time. That or there just aren't enough tracks in total. The battle theme, the same regardless of region, has long, long since gone dry. Not a bad central theme by any means. I just wish there was more...
I'm quite aware. I just don't think it was pulled off as well as in Heavensward, which I even then felt was faintly over-repetitive, probably given that this one is actually a globe-trotting adventure (not that you'd be able to tell from the battle themes) yet has no more variance than the more self-insultaned Heavensward plot and locales. Heavensward also had some of my favorite tracks. I've yet to run into a Stormblood track that would end up in my top 10. Just a matter of preference.

I don't really like the choice of music for the Lochs though, it is cutscene music and it is constant. It gets on my nerves a bit, hypes me up and never lets up. I have to mute my BGM when in the Lochs because the music is too high tempo for BGM.
The other tracks are really good on the other hand, I was just upset with how the Lochs music turned out.
It's pretty common in the industry:It's good that music is a non-count word. Primals aside, a lot of these SB themes seem indistinct from each other. Is there one song with a few variations? A few songs? Hmm...

I found 4.0's music to be incredible and don't feel like there's a lack in terms of variety.
Im just bothered with how the new themes seem to be just a 2 minute loop on constant repeat no matter where i am in the new zones. It works for the more calm themes but for stuff like the Lochs and Azim steppe it just ends up being intruding. Going back to ARR zones i find that this becomes a non issue as the music in the zones in general is a lot calmer and has more variations.
Loved the music, can't wait for the soundtrack.
the day themes are great. but the night themes have to much piano. it starts to sound the same when u are doing 2-3 hour rounds of collectables in both yanxia and gyr abania. :c
To each their own then, I love both BGM you mentioned and I enjoy relaxing at the map to enjoy the music. If anything I just find some of the looping of SB's BGM sounds a little off, like there's a long pause before the track repeats.Im just bothered with how the new themes seem to be just a 2 minute loop on constant repeat no matter where i am in the new zones. I love the music but it seems their variety has decreased? I noticed this since the Weeping City Diablos's fight. It used the same old music despite being the last boss there, in another word, recycled.
And the normal B rank mark in Stormblood is also using recycle music from some fights during ARR-HW story mode. The same goes for mount music which used the same old mount music. C'mon SE, we need more fresh music like from early HW era.
