Yoshi-P (praise be unto he) and his development team do amazing work, no question, but I just want to give a well-earned salute to the English localization team for what they do for FFXIV.

And by "what they do", I mean how, if you didn't know this was Square-Enix/Final Fantasy, you could be tricked into believing that this is a game made by Americans with some Japanese-inspired character designs here and there.

I have yet to encounter a single awkward line of dialogue in this game. The frequent plays on words in fates/quests are always spot on and I love how they use the description text of minions and certain items as a chance to lose their minds a little, either throwing in subtle references the NA audience will get or going loopy over an adorable puppy minion.

I've seen firsthand the challenge that arises from translating not just words but ideas and storytelling concepts from one culture to another. You have to have enough of a mindshare in both cultures to be able to take such a concept from one and translate it without losing any of its emotional punch.

And that is not easy to do.

So again, my hat is off to the folks who handle English localization. Y'all nail it.
