i think you can gather 2-3k crystals per hour by using aetherial reduction

main reason why i absolutely DREAD doing my crafting dailies. i'm 66 in all crafts excluding CUL and the amount of raw materials it takes to make ONE item is absurd. meanwhile, i'm leveling crafters on my alts who are both below lvl30 and silently wish high level crafting was similar... i mean, i get it; higher levels equals the more you're kind of expected to put in. granted the recipes themselves are easy but its just the sheer volume of everything... not even going to try to complete all my crafting log entries.

I understand your frustration. Towards the end of HW I went and completed all of the "I Made That V! _____" achievements, for the golden glowing MH tools. So, I know how hard (or, in some cases, easy) the Crafting Log can be.
Personally though, I expect another level of the I Made That achievements. That's why I'm leveling my crafters with a combination of the Crafting Log and Leves. ARR gave us rings. HW gave us MH tools equivalent to the best scrip tools. SB will give us ... who knows?
My advice is just to be sure to keep your Retainers busy gathering stuff that you are going to need. Whether it is mob drops (DoW) or fish or stuff obtained from mining/botany nodes, or just plain ol shards/crystals ...
FWIW, making everything by hand (or QS'ing when not seeking HQ) I'm finding that Weaver and Goldsmith are closest to 70 after completing the level 66 and 67 recipes in the crafting log. Culinarian is lagging badly, and is the biggest Leve user to keep up. Alchemist is the second biggest Leve user, followed by Carpenter and Armorer. Since I'm making at least one of everything anyway, I may as well hand them in for the exp, even if that means crafting something thrice instead of once.

CUL and ALC have the more friendly collectibles in terms of mat costs. Craftsman's Tea and Baklava.

Eh, unless there's a scrip item I need, I don't bother much with Collectibles for DoH exp. The reason is fairly simple, in that you get some 2-3 times the exp for HQ'ing the item and handing it in as a Leve than you get for making the item a Collectible and handing it in that way.
100k for filling the Quality bar on an item (with Rested and stuff). Then get another 1000k for handing it in for a leve. 1100k exp total.

In HW I leveled a lot of classes using 40 durability collectibles. Getting material for them was much easier and the quality requirement for turn in were low enough it was all but impossible to fail collectible range even with NQ material. The trade off being, more crafting but it just seemed less of a nightmare to gather 300 raw star ruby or 500 Titanium Ore.Eh, unless there's a scrip item I need, I don't bother much with Collectibles for DoH exp.
