Currently, there are very few ways people can utilize the ability to use actions from other classes. This was one of the things that made we want to try FFXIV out, since in every other MMO game you're pretty much expected to play a certain way. In WoW, I loved playing priest but then every time I saw another priest I was discouraged because I knew they were going to be using the same exact abilities as me, and virtually going for the same stats. If I looked at a guide, they all said the same thing (sometimes there's variations but its all mostly the same thing). If I tried something new, I'd be called a noob. But FFXIV doesn't have to be like that. The only actions that are used from other classes are abilities like Raise, Cure and other abilities that are generically helpful (enmity reducers, movement increases, buffs, etc.). I don't think I've seen anyone use an ability from another class that's actually to help increase their damage, healing or tanking (if that's their goal, respectively. I don't mean a PUG using heal which would increase their healing). Kept simple to reduce complications, I think integrating certain actions from other classes would be an efficient way to fully realize the potential of FFXIV's armory system.
1. Add En[element] Spells
They would be
-actions for each element that add a passive buff which deals elemental magic damage when using a physical attack like the spells Redmages get in XI.
-useable by any class
-given to the DoMs as abilities they wouldn't necessarily use
-spells that had no initial mana cost, but would cost mana each attack.
-spells that could only be used on oneself.
-dealing damage based on time between auto attacks, or TP cost.
-calculated in a way that all DoWs could utilize them equally. Just to keep it simple.
I know they reduced the amount of abilities each class has (to make it easier to balance, I guess) but altogether this would add about 6 (5, since water is no longer a spell) abilities to the DoMs. Before 1.20 I'd have said CNJ should get them but now that THM has more elemental spells than CNJ for some reason, I think they should get them according to what elements they already use (For example, CNJ would get Enaero and Enstone).
This would also be a neat balancing concept, should racial base stats ever be implemented. For example, a PUG Lalafell with a lot of MP and little STR would be able to deal just as much damage as a Roagadyn PUG, just in a different way. That way race could still be an aesthetic choice, but it would change the way each race plays each class. Another topic for a time when FFXIV is more developed, though.
In the cinematic, it showed that Hyur guy shooting a magical flame arrow. Why can't we do that? This would also help keep people busy after they level a class to 50.
Alternatively: It could just be a simple quick-cast spell that's usable on a target (or oneself) to enhance their next attack with elemental damage and a reasonably short recast time. For example, a THM who has too much enmity on a boss could use an Enelement spell on a PUG who's a bit lacking in damage dealt. This would also be useful should a strictly supporting class ever be implemented, like a bard. When his songs are all recharging, he could throw a few Enelements in to help the damage a bit.
