Depends on level, your healer and your party. With good AoE DPS they're fine, at least with WHM and AST (haven't played SB SCH so no comment on that), if the tank is good. As a healer, I prefer large pulls in all SB exp dungeons at least - if the tank and the DDs can handle them. They only become horrible if tank isn't properly geared and / or using cooldowns well or if the DPS is super slow.

Is there even a wrong way to pop cds? Mind you I don't main tank and do it sometimes but when I pull large groups I tend to just rotate my cds around to mitigate damage. I never really thought there was a way to do them wrong.

Big pulls are a team effort.
Bardam's Mettle with a SCH last night(complete PUG group as far as I could tell), I had to use all my CDs, including Hallowed Ground, before the first wall. And that was doing small pulls(used HG three more times in there too). Wasn't watching the party list at the point to know if they were DPSing too much, but I think it was the 2nd group that the roaming monster can reach where I had to use HG.

And if you have the right party composition. If I have a BLM + anything I will test the waters with a large pull to begin with(partially to test DPS, partially to test healing).

On topic: I dont know...to make me wanna kick the tank after ONE failed pull, the tank has to have been beyond horrible.
    Bolded: See above...

Underlined: I've only ever kicked tanks for three things:
    1. Throwing a hissy fit when asked why they prefered one method over another(and refusing to move forward because of it)
    2. DCing/AFKing for long periods of time
    3. Sitting just outside the range of the enemies, still following the group, and not doing anything to help(this took us 20min to agree to kick him because the two others in party with me were from my FC - tank was a random through DF rou)

well I just mean to say that....trial and error can happen and is NOT a reason for me to stop doing that big pull. Usually either me or the tank were missing a vital cooldown to make it work.
Its usually easy to tell whether a trivial thing like this made the wipe happen or whether the tank or healer arent fully aware of what theyre doing.

But sometimes you can tell within 1 pull what you just got yourself into. Like, a tank who practically did everything wrong.
And thats where I'd rather eat the penalty or just try to get the tank replaced. Although I really dont usually do that after 1 pull. I wait at least for another 2-3 pulls.

On the topic of vote kicking - my voting box doesn't want to show up. I've been part of two groups recently where we had to kick a member (one was AFK, and the other was having horrible connection issues), but I am not seeing the notification. Any idea which item this is in the hud, or is there an option in settings somewhere?

I hear ya there! I wasn't judging, really We all have our own ideas as to what we want to put up with - I just think I'm a glutton for punishment. :X

As a healer i love big pulls since it makes me feel needed as my job, as a healer, not like a DPS wanna be... Big pulls are the only time when you get to focus on healing, and i love it (not that i hate DPSing on bosses, its just a change of peace, a breath taking)

Please respect the content, no more than 3 mobs at a time!

And to peolpe who think you can't do "big" (lmao gated after 2-3 packs) pulls in leveling dungeons, it's really easy to do if your tank and healer know their job and DPS actually use their AoE rotation. This is not sub 30 content where most DPS don't even have an AoE button, most jobs have their full AoE rotation available at 50+/60+.

You can't really do much wrong.
    • Popping them all at once and then you have nothing left for the remainder of the pull.
    • Not using Holmgang, Living Dead and especially Hallowed Ground. Or only using Hallowed Ground when you are about to die, instead of using it before you take all that damage.

So this is what I do as a tank in these cases... The first thing I do is examine the healer to get an idea of their gear versus mine. This gives me a general idea of how large a pull I can attempt. The first pull I do either large or small dependent upon this evaluation and see how the healer handles it. If we wipe or it gets really close I'll say, "Okay, I'll pull a little bit less for you." Typically the fact that I'm telling the healer that I'm doing that for their benefit gets good responses because it shows them that I'm considering their capabilities.

If I pull small and we get through it easily I'll either wait for the healer to say, "You can pull more." or I'll grab an extra group the next time and see how it goes. The key is flexability and knowing how to adjust to the current group you're running with. This also means looking at the group and going, "Hmmm... We have a lot of strong AoE so large packs will die faster." vs "This comp is single-target heavy therefore large groups aren't as much of a benefit."

The more you're able to adapt to the group you're with, the better your runs will be. Of course, some pe-made groups are just toxic and will get on you for even the tiniest mistake, but there's little to nothing you can do about that aside from just moving on.

LoL... Yanno, I've actually had healers bitch at me me for popping HG when it seemed like they were about to let me die, "HG? Really? What, you don't trust my healing or something? I'm insulted."
