Temple of the Fist Second Boss problem

Which directional aoe are you talking about? Killer instinct or Fore and Aft/Port and Star? The latter two don't have graphics, their direction depends on which spell is cast and I've never had much trouble noticing the spell effect of the former. Did you try keeping your camera fairly zoomed out so that you can see the entire boss even when standing close to him?

Not the AoE, those are easy. it's the barrier. He has a barrier up on three sides, if you attack from those sides, he counters you with a damage down debuff that is like 90% or something. The shield only lasts a few seconds but it's long enough to get the debuff if you can't see the graphic.

EDIT: Got sidetracked, sorry. Only answered half. It's more my eyes than zooming. I can't really see it. I don't THINK I'm colorblind at all but...maybe lol.

Yes, I'm aware. It's the 'Killer instinct' spell that I mentioned in my post. You only see the spell graphic of the barrier immediately after he casts it, the graphic fades a couple of seconds before the actual damage reflection shield does. If zooming back far enough to have a good view of the full boss doesn't work for you, then you might want to take the other peoples' advice in this thread and just stop attacking once you see the cast bar for it pop up.

That's probably what I'll have to do.

To me, the graphic only looks kinda like a thin outline with very slight yellowish murkiness in it. Sometimes I can see it, usually I cant.

If you can't deal with the counter-barriers well just stop weaponskilling for like 5 seconds. Same trick worked with Ravana.
