On topic, perhaps it would have been better if they added a minimum drop of one horn, even if the price of the mount was raised.
I will however try the Ash with another party member, and test to see if throwing the ash simply generates a lot of enmity for us both thus giving gold.
I think they nailed it with the Outfoxed fate series. You have one fate that is a frequent spawn, gives 1 token and then you have a major rare spawn that gives a ton. Give players a choice, an option, a better way to spend their time and don't ask them to make compromises to work / life balance. This will solve the population issues that the servers are experiencing and encourage players to do the FATES.

The problems we are experiencing are game design issues that the servers just cant handle. The solution is to change the game to fit within the limitations of the server architecture.

A million times this. SE gets too ambitious at times. Ixion (and other super-FATEs dating back to 2.x), the solo instance that turned into a nightmarish MSQ block during the Stormblood Early Access, the Housing system - all examples of design decisions that disregarded server limitations.

To be sure, I'd rather SE just design a more competent server-side setup. They clearly aren't very talented when it comes to squeezing performance out of their hardware (or they're running on incredibly bad hardware). It's remarkable to me, for example, that we still don't have a Glamour Log. That said, if it can't be delivered competently, best not to try in the first place.

This is not fair on healers, if there is not enough people getting hit then healers would be getting bronze because you would be over-healing a lot to try and get credit through this way.

The credit system just needs to grant parties the same contribution as all the party members involved and not isolate specific players.

I feel as though if they switched to a role based participation reward system, it would indeed help the issue. It's been said before, but it is with merit. The enmity list shouldn't be reserved for ONLY tanks. A DPS that pulls is never a good thing, and healers should be healing without worry of threat. So the number of people allowed on the list should be 300 people. Such it should be for DPS and Healers as well. If the list on the boss FATE is reserved/designed for 900 spots and the maximum zone allowance is only 300; it will make it impossible to hit that ceiling on the boss, while still allowing EVERYONE that takes a crack at the boss or heals a chance to get the maximum reward.

I've got gold 3 times now and my first was silver back when instances were a thing. The fate is crazy laggy and congests the zone but if you want to get gold you better get there first because if you dont the server lag will make your attacks do nothing and you won't get credit. My advice: camp the Lochs and afk when you're bored. As soon as you see quicklevin weather, shout in your linkshell or shout in the zone

Oh, people do this; it's practically the only way to have a shot at being there for the FATE on many servers.

Of course it causes a whole other issue for people trying to get into the Lochs, as demonstrated by my friend Katniss here:

People talk as if the fate was a temporary event. The fate is here forever there is no rush to get it. People talk as if the fate will be gone and you gonna miss the opportunity to get the mount.

Do it when it pops. If you are free and manage to do it , GREAT! If you don't well it's basically tough sh*t!

stay on the look out for it next time!

I wish the spawn time for Ixion would change. On Ragnarok it always spawns after 1-2 AM (11:30 PM GMT), this means that on days when I need to head out in the morning, I can not stay online and wait for Ixion. I do understand that RNG is involved, but maybe every 2-3 spawns, let Ixion spawn during prime time?

I've only gotten 4 tokens. And Ive had to camp out for both fates. Would I like it to be a little more scheduled? Sure. Should it? No.
It's fun to know that this mount requires effort. You have to know its window and camp out. If life gets in the way that sucks but it is what it is. And people who complain about not being able to get into to area when it pops, sorry but you obviously dont care enough about the mount otherwise youd be camping it out with the rest of us.

The issue is people treating it like something that needs to be gained ASAP even at the cost of not only their own enjoyment but everybody's else's fun as well. Do I want the mount? Sure - I think it looks pretty cool. I'm not going to sit in the same place for hours at a time, though in the hope that it might spawn only to risk frustration due to a disconnect or simply not getting enough credit to justify such a lengthy stake out. It's not a healthy approach either mentally or physically.

In due time when the novelty wears off and there's less people swarming the zone it'll be a lot less tedious and stressful to get the mount. It happened with Odin, too and every other major boss fate. If you're worried about nobody showing up at that point, don't be - spread awareness in shout. Set up a party finder group. Tell your friends that Ixion has spawned. Chances are some people will come to help out of the kindness of their hearts...and others will show up simply because they, too, desire the mount.
