MCHs not allowed

I\\'ve been playing since 2.0 beta, it\\'s been 4 years, and I\\'d never felt so discriminated for maining a job.
I saw a few "farming" pts for Susano ex and there was a free slot for BRD I asked the pt leader about me entering as a MCH and he refused because it sucks at damage dealing...

I play on PS4 so I can\\'t parse my dps, I know the job is weak, but I enjoy playing it...

I hope SE buff MCH asap.

Just keep looking or create your own group. Ignorant groups like that aren't worth your time. Not that MCHs don't need adjustments, but they are completely fine in EX trials.

Ignore PFs like those; they usually turn out to be traps anyways. People that exclude jobs for this type of content are generally the kind of people you would rather not party with anyways. Think of it as you dodged a bullet with that group. Neither of the current Ex trials have a DPS check so tight that everyone needs to be in the 95th percentile in terms of damage. Unless your entire group has terrible DPS, taking a MCH isn't going to cause the party to instantly fail mechanics, or reach enrage.

I was in a Lakshmi farm earlier this morning with a MCH that was consistently second on the DPS list, after a NIN. They were parsing around 3.2k DPS consistently, and that wasn't even with 50% Balance uptime. I know they could stand to be higher (we all know MCH needs love; I'm not saying that they don't need to be looked at by SE and rebalanced), but the player makes the job. SAM are supposed to be the strongest out of all DPS jobs, but I've been in groups where there have been SAMs consistently at the bottom. The job one plays means nothing if people don't know how to play it properly.

People are already killing susano in 8 minutes (even less than 6 minutes for the best groups), and the fight enrage is at 10 minutes (not sure, my slowest kill was 9:30ish). For a normal farm there's absolutely no need for certain compositions. If you're doing savage progression aiming to clear fast, or doing speedkills, then yeah bard is (currently) absolutely better than machinist. If you have trouble with getting into PF groups, have you tried using DF?

If it makes you feel any better, the number of clears of bards vs machinists (you can see on fflogs) should be enough to make the devs notice that something is wrong with machinists. We don't know they'll "fix" the job, but we can expect some changes to come next tuesday.

Meta should never be enforced in regular play... I have seen Machinists do 3.5k DPS on Lakshmi Ex, and conversely I've seen SAMs go 2.5k DPS.

Outside high-end play, compositions are going to matter very little compared to player skill.

While Machinists definitely need help in terms of making them more desirable in party compositions, but in no way is it an unviable class for farming current extremes and most likely even the upcoming Savage, and locking them out of your run-of-the-mill farm parties is just silly.
