FFXI or FFXIV?

It was painful in FFXI to get parties for anything, which is why people (are forced to) builds stronger ties and better communities.
The breakdown in communication is due to accommodating to casual play - Why bother building ties when I can do pretty much everything alone?

Unfortunately casual players >>> other types of players in numbers so that's the path MMOs are taking.
I would blame it on WoW but they did make a heck of a lot of $$$ from it.

I don't know what server you are on, but I often feel a great since of community and talk with lots of people. If your on lindblum and want to reach out, I love to chat.

Linkshells pretty much only stick to their linkshells and everyone else gets shunned. Elitest attitudes galore.

FYI, FFXI was first released on the PS2 console, it didn't get a PC release a year later, and maybe another year for the xbox360 console.

O yeah i know that is what i was most worried about when FFXIV was about to come out, I liked that FFXI was out on the console first. Because it was on the console i think they had the best UI for a mmorpg and since FFXIV came out on the PC first i was worried that they where going to do the whole PC MMORPG thing and just throw tons of crazy UI boxes in there and make only about 5% of the screen visible.

So I finally came back to FFXIV now that patch 1.20 is out, and as far as what it looks like compared to when it first came out way over a year ago is amazing, i love it so far. The only thing I do not like, which I do not now if it is FFXIV or all MMO's these days is the reason i loved FFXI is because there seemed to be a community in it, people talked to people. I can't say that this is FFXIV's fault because FFXI seems to me to of been the last MMO ever made where people play to play with other people, why not just play a console game if you wanna play alone?
So im just wondering is there any more of a community in this game at higher lv.s? because I do understand that the only people that really play are people that are really in to Final Fantasy, or should i just wait a year for 2.0 to come out and go back to FFXI? Which game do you guys all think is more put together?
