    Updateing my Paladin

    I have been playing the game for about a month now and just got level 61 and started Storm Blood story just the other night. I been taking and leveling as a Paladin so figure it was time I made sure I am up to date on how to play my role and such. Being have new abilities I just wanted to ask others who been tanking in his class longer then I have of their rotations and cool downs they use for both main and off tank modes.

    It really depends on your style. The re vamped the whole battle system so everyone is relearning how it works to some point. Personally I love it as Secondary tank for me I tend to be more of a DRK and currently maxing out my PLD. Pretty much is same rotations with some mechanic changes. Learn the new actions, practice on fates / training dummies, and see how they suit you.

    Your rotation is pretty much the same for both MT and OT. Just sub some RoH in place of Royal Authority combos if you need more hate.

    Generally, you break down into a FoF phase, a Req phase, and filler. FoF phase is what we're used to: Going, Royal, Royal, etc. Req phase is to spam Holy Spirit during the buff. Filler phase is more Goring, Royal, Royal until FoF comes back.

    Boss Rotation:
    1. Goring Blade (or Halone if enmity is an issue)
    2. Requiescat -> Holy Spirit x5
    3. Goring -> Royal -> Royal -> Goring -> Royal -> Royal (Fight or Flight near the start)
    4. Repeat from #1.

    The entire rotation is about 1 minute long. Boss mechanics will interrupt your ideal rotation. Fight or Flight should be used at the end of a combo. Fight or Flight does not work on Holy Spirit, and Requiescat does not work on combos, so the two phases and two buffs need to remain separate. You can use OGCD's in between Holy Spirit casts. If MT'ing you should always use a Sheltron during your Holy Spirit phase to restore MP since you'll be getting 100 Oath Gauge for free.

    Large Trash Packs:
    Flash -> (Fight or Flight) Eclipse x4 -> Flash -> Eclipse x2 -> Flash.

    This gives you maximum Blindness up-time on every mob and maximizes your DPS while maintaining hate. This only works if your gear is up-to-date and/or melded properly. At the end of the rotation mobs will have died in which case its better to switch to combos. Of course you may need to use Provoke or Cover if some RDM decides to blow their entire red magic gauge in the first few seconds of a fight.

    Random tips:

    - As OT you can mitigate every single MT Tankbuster with Intervention. You can mitigate every single party member buster with Cover, Divine Veil, Clemency, Reprisal, and Passage of Arms (PLD utility is more difficult to use as MT but still doable when boss positioning doesn't matter.)

    - As MT you get to Sheltron every single Tankbuster. If you don't have Sheltron use Bulwark. If you don't have Bulwark use Passage of Arms. Though try to save the last two abilities for Multi-hit attacks. Bulwark, Passage, and Holy Spirit refill your Sheltron gauge. There shouldn't be a single Buster that you won't be able to block. However, you can't block a critical hit. If there's something you absolutely need to Block, combine it with Awareness which prevents critical hits.

    - Clemency is god mode. You can solo heal dungeon bosses if your healer dies. You can solo A Rank hunts in Stormblood. Always use it with Convalescence and/or Requiescat. Refill your MP with Riot Blades and Sheltrons for non-stop self preservation. Clemency is also one of the greatest add grabbers in the game. Getting snap aggro on everything that spawns in the arena no matter how far away it is.

    - Hallowed Ground prevents most debuffs from being applied to you. Some mechanics force you to Tank swap; Hallowed Ground can bypass such a mechanic.
