Total Eclipse after all the fuss about pali aoe never see anyone use it why?

It seems like Im the only pali that uses it from what Ive seen Im confused I thought that everyone wanted more aoe. Is it bad should I not be using it cause I spam it then do goring on adds after. Whats the deal why doesn't anyone seem to like it, I'm a tank main but I been playing alot of dps lately. So Im noticing a trend and am really just curious is the skill under-powered?

It's not so much that the skill is underpowered, it's just inefficient. Total Eclipse doesn't have added enmity, while Flash and Circle of Scorn do. A paladin's go-to AoE enmity spam is still Flash because it means you hold hate for longer. Total Eclipse is alright for contributing damage to trash, but does nothing to keep enemies focused on you.

Sure, but you never need to spam Flash. You think DRK's avoid Abyssal Drain because it doesn't give as much Enmity as Unleash? Hell no.

You get as much hate as you need then go to DPS.

I dont use it for hate more so I use it like I would Abyssal Drain on drk , like I pull with unleash then spam Abyssal Drain on drk, so on pali I pull with flash then spam total eclipse I see alot of palis just using royal or something on maybe one or two adds and dont get why they aren't using the aoe once they have enmity. When used with fight or flight it does a decent amount of damage but again I hardly ever seen this from others, I feel like by not using it your slowing down a run just like people complained about before sb because pali was only tank with no good aoe.

Here's the real reason people aren't using it: it's learned at level 46, IIRC. They were level 60 when the expac hit, and didn't read up on changes. They have no idea they are missing a critical ability.

I have taught plenty of PLD's in-game about TE for this exact reason.

One or two adds isn't worth total eclipsing. Think you need a minimum of 5 mobs for it to be worthwhile. Anything less and it's a dps loss

At 70? No, you don't need to spam flash, you can get away with GB with a few flashes peppered in to hold hate.

At lower levels, especially sub-30? Often, Flash is the only way to hold multi-target packs because your DPS often will generate more hate than you can without it.

It's crap, and healer aoe is better, and by casting our heal the healer can aoe more.

I have to agree with you sadly I think alot of people may not even know they have it , I know its just a simple aoe but people always trashed talked palis for not having any. And now here it is nobody is even using it hah but your right people prob forgot it was put in their pre 50 job skills, this is why tool tips are so important.

No. The real reason people aren't using it is because it's donkey poop unless it's absolutely the last option, while you're being swarmed by a mob of enemies that either do no damage to you or in an instance prior to getting your heal. Or in a group with a healer that can't or wont aoe. Or in a group with a scholar.
