    Magitek Knights with Gunblades

Would be perfect for a Garlean expansion.

    My ideas:

    Disciple of War
    Melee, hybrid physical/magical damage

Gameplay based on Mystic Knight, Spell Fencer job - you charge the Gunblade with elemental aspected aether for magitek empowered melee attacks, and fire magitek bullets.

Gauge mechanic is Ceruleum Bullets - the Gunblade has a magitek device that harvests ambient aether and automatically processes it into aspected ceruleum bullets - Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Lightning, and Water. These bullets are loaded into the Gunblade's revolver chambers as they charge.

You begin combat with all bullets charged. You transition from one element to the next by firing the current bullet, dealing a burst of the current element's damage. The revolver mechanism automatically loads the next bullet.

Bullets recharge overtime, with some CDs to charge faster or instantly recharge. The bullets are automatically loaded into the Gunblade's chambers as they're finished charging. You can change the order of the bullets in the revolver with an oGCD.

The currently loaded Ceruleum bullet changes Gunblade weaponskill affects (like Fire Ceruleum increasing damage and Lightning Ceruleum leaving a DoT), and some skills may only be available with a specific element loaded. The damage of firing the bullet becomes weaker the longer you use it to charge your weaponskills, eventually doing no damage and losing its effect as the charge is spent, so you don't want to stay in an element for too many gcds.

Optimal play would involve making sure all the buffs/debuffs/DoTs/CDs of the different elements line up together for maximum damage.

You want to avoid ever having to use weaponskills without a bullet loaded, but you could unload all your bullets before a phase transition for burst damage.

As much as I HATE gunblades as a weapon for a job given their sheer impracticality, this is actually a pretty solid concept and maybe one that would better explain how Garleans utilize aether when they aren't able to naturally like everyone else.

The only exception would be the burst bit since there seems to be some sort of movement against DPS completely blowing their loads.
