    Isn't this what happens in most games with expansions?

    Bought WoW a couple of months back, Legion, all previous expansions included.
    It would make little sense to be able to buy SB without it including HW, since storyline leads you from one place to the next...
    And in a couple of years, assuming SE will keep the expansions coming, any new players would, what, have to pay that value for every single released expansion to play the most up to date content?

    The option for a SB "standalone", well, doesn't really exist I'm afraid :/ Sorry for your friend, but I don't think he'll be able to do much about it...
