    Other healers are really getting on my nerves. (Discussion)

    Hey all o/

    Recently I've come to find that other healers have been getting on my nerves. I currently play an Astrologian and I've been having this issue of being forced into the "main healer" position. Don't get me wrong I love healing, and the aspects of it, however I'm the type of person who enjoys healing and dps. So let me explain;

    Since StormBlood began I've had this issue, but I do feel like the cross class ablities are to blame. As of SB a lot of healers seem to think that Esuna and Protect aren't important instead they grab something like Cleric's and seem to think they're solely meant to dps now. With that the other healer gets shoe-horned into being a main healer, if you don't the party dies. I love healing so much, but with the current changes that have happened I feel like it's left too many healers with "mah deeps" mentality. So fellow healers have you been stuck "main healing" without being asked?

    I never looked at it as being "stuck" main healing. I play a healer and I want to win, so if I have to take over for my second nuke happy healer and be the main healer. Fine, okay, bring it on. I trust myself more then a random healer any day. I'm ready for anything.

    I know what you mean, since the "optional" (yeah just kidding more like required) roles skills like protect, esuna and shroud, (yes i am calling it that still) we dont have much choice, we need swift and as a whm i grabbed divine seal... ehem.

    So i lost on eye for an eye and clerics, as a general rule for myself, if whole party needs esuna, priority goes to me first, then casters, then melee, if the other heal hasnt dealt with their debuff, they are not worth my mp since whm lost the 20% chance to cost 0 mp with esuna too.

    Just carry on dpsing as you would as healing, just keep the tank alive imo, and ignore the other healer if they get hurt xD

    I definitely see what you mean, and I agree with I want to win so I'm going to heal. But I personally find it more engaging and fun to be able to go back and forth. I honestly get a bit bored when I "main heal" so I suppose it's just a matter of opinion on if you consider it being "stuck" or not lol

    Yep, it really is a matter of opinion lol. For me anything I find personally fun and engaging in regards to personal play style is thrown out the window and irrelevant in a group situation. It's nothing but business for me in a group situation. I want to win, not argue, so I'm totally okay with slipping into full healer mode on a seconds notice.

    Unfortunately you're an AST and they are kinda the 'main healer' right now. WHM only really brings a deep mana pool and personal DPS to the group at the moment and SCH is still trying to find it's kneecaps after it's brush with the nerf bat.

    Also I always go into a DF group with the outlook that the other healer has firmly secured their pants to their head. Normally I am pleasantly surprised to find the opposite is true but then there are those times I am right...

    Eww, who is taking Cleric Stance? It's such a waste of space now.

    Cleric Stance is not worth being on anyone's bar.

    Yeahhh, as a WHM, I pretty much bought back all of my skills that we lost in the first place - but excluding cleric's.

    But to answer OP, the only time I feel that other healers are shirking their job is in PvP. Quite often I feel as if I'm one of the few that is healing the entire alliance - and I'm almost always top, or near top on amounts cured (on the final scorecard). PvP is a bit trickier though as a healer as groups tend to spread out, and then run around like ants - so it isn't always the easiest.

    If you want me to heal, then just heal less, I guess. I'm not going to let the party die, but neither am I going to sit around waiting to snipe heals when I could be DPSing. The party's health is a resource to be spent to increase party DPS like any other.
