How would the playerbase feel about buying a housing plot from the MogStation?

Why do you people always beg for things to be on the mogstation? This is why our generation can't save anything because you guys are so willing to spend your money on the dumbest things.

I think that's a bit harsh, and also inaccurate. Games like FFXIV offer a better cost per hour rate of entertainment than virtually anything else on the market. Even if individual houses were to cost $5/mo, it wouldn't significantly change the equation. And given that this is pure entertainment - entertainment that you are also paying for - it's difficult to call something like this a 'dumb' purchase. If someone likes it, they like it. Who is anyone else to judge?

Don't get me wrong, I'm completely opposed to adding houses to the Mog Station (or anything to the Mog Station). Unlike you, however, I'm capable of empathizing with those who are very much desiring a housing plot, and frustrated with SE's lack of action.

But there is a massive draw back to that, many people who server transferred did so for either the rewards or to escape the NA server explosion, even I transferred to escape that mess. And I can tell from what I seen there are tons of people wanting to go back to NA. After the 90 day probationary period ends, the NA servers are going to see a likely increase of players again. If they open the wards now, they will get bought up immediately, now if they wait until after the 90 day server lockout, they're playing with fire because the fact every server except the few truly congested will be open back up, and we might see a resurgence of congestion.

Simply put, make all EU servers except Louisoix (since we're a very quiet EU server), and all NA servers with more than 3k characters registered total (not even active) congested servers, keep them that way for 10 years. Problem solved. People wouldn't be able to go back to the more populous servers (including myself), and SE have plenty time to open up the Shirogane wards and have people invest there.

I'd also argue for the opening of a 2nd EU datacentre and moving Louisoix to it, and opening some extra new servers there too. Try and help stem the duty finder congestion issues that are apoarentky STILL cropping up for EU players.

Agreed. I'm sure they could easily create a new area with instanced housing. They pulled it off to an extent with apartments (and said they can be scaled up much more easily with demand). I'm pretty sure the next step after that is instanced housing (maybe keep it FC only? and iterate on apartments by adding a balcony area with astroturf so you can do some housing-like gardening there - as in cross-breeding? I think that would help stem some of the issues with people feeling short-changed with housing)

As a lot of players have been playing for years without getting a shot at getting a house (myself included) and as it is the cause for a lot of grief in the playerbase.

Why not make it possible to buy a housing plot from the MogStation?

Note: I'm not suggesting that people paying real life cash would get the existing plots, but that the funds coming from people purchasing a plot from the Mogstation could pay back the cost of making more wards and more server space and eventually overturn a good profit for SE.

I know it's more complicated than that, but why not capitalize on something that is in high demand? We don't mind paying for an in game wedding, why not an in game house?

I can actually see SE doing something like this with future housing. In order to buy a plot, you need to first by a token off of the Mogstation. The reasoning behind this will be to limit the amount of players that can buy a house and somehow ease the burden on their servers. The token will be tradeable too.

It won't happen because buying a house is one of the most prestigious aspects of the game. Not just getting the cash but owning a plot which is very limited and high demand. It also ensures continued subs by people who are playing less but just don't want to lose their precious plot. Paid plots would ruin all of that.

Not that sure. I had to take an almost 4 months break and lost two mansions (personal and FC's). IRL matters.

Considering how empty most housing wards are, they really need to consider a whole revamp of housing system. At least they should separate FC's housing and personal housing. Housing wards are even more empty since there is personal housing. If system is build as I think (and which explains why they keep the system like it is), it is a waist of ressources. I'm afraid to think they build housing as if it be a map when the amount of people yell for an instance system, for personal houses, as it is for apartments and rooms.

Don't agree with it for the reasons already stated. SE "fixing" their own fuckups by milking their paying customers and Mogstation already being shady enough as is for a p2p MMO.

What I would much rather see is a company workshop that is publicly accessible for all FCs, for those that can't snag a house.

Because I want my time better invested than searching and sniping for houses, and deal with flippers and plot hoarders claiming whole wards.
If I get to circumvent this all by paying a fee with real currency, then it is a option for me.

Given how money grubbing Square Enix is as a company and how the Mog Station has gradually increased in price for sets, I'd be very very against this. Give the coin counters at SE an inch and they will literally take a mile.
