Ground Targeting/Click To Face Option?

Right now I'm recovering from a broken leg and am mostly playing FFXIV in bed with Steam Streaming to my laptop. While doing this I've run into a problem with ground targeting. For whatever reason when I click to ground target my character must be facing the exact direction of the spot or the click will instead cause him to picot in that direction without getting the spell off. Given the slight latency of streaming and my imprecise bed setup it means that it's functionally almost impossible to drop fields in combat.

The culprit appears to be that left clicking on the floor anywhere will cause my hero to face that direction. My clicks for ground targeting will instead change the direction I'm standing in (unless perfectly aligned - see above). Is there a way to turn this "click to face" option off? I cant find it in the options. Alternately, if there is a way to place ground targeting on key release instead of left click, that would work.

There is a partial workaround using macros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeTWIQ1N-rM), but that is an imperfect solution (as you may not want to center your field on any particular enemy).

If I remember right there is indeed an option to turn that off in the Config (meaning your character will not turn on their heel to face a target you've clicked on), although I cannot remember the exact setting for it (I actually have it turned on by default).

Out of curiosity...

Are you holding down the right mouse button to turn your camera, while you left click to place the ground target?

I ask because there isn't a setting that does what you're describing with the left mouse button alone, but left and right mouse buttons together will turn and move you.


The auto-face target setting will turn you if you successfully place the ability, but only if you place it. It won't cause a ground left click to turn you just to turn you.
