I would say the issue is with your party, Ifrit needs magical damage on him to be the quick kill he used to be, but your PGL damage seems ok.

Next up, positioning.
If you are moving to the side of ifrit and an eruption targets you, there is a good chance that you will MPK the tank.
If Ifrit is glowing and he eruptions you, if you do not trail the next eruptions away PERFECTLY, you will definitely MPK the tank with multiple eruption hits.

Sear Damage. You can survive sear damage? in the final phase that is 300 damage (approx) every 5 seconds. Unless you are running in and out of sear, severely gimping your damage, I do not think this is true.

PGL is good, but it is not good for Ifrit.
Ifrit does not just Eruption randomly. His abilities are timed, time them and then be sure not to be close to the tank. Only use Howling Fist combo during a Vulcan Burst or Incinerate since it ends on the side, giving you time to move to the back once again. Problem solved

How much HP do your pugilists have? Sear hasn't changed since 1.20 and last I checked people don't suddenly have much less HP. Sear doesn't kill anyone who is capable of healing themselves (Second Wind, Bloodbath, the vastly improved Cure *for melee) with the occasional help from a healer.
