I've never been a fan of people just standing around waiting for someone to come talk to them. Even if it was a bit of an inconvenience I'd rather see NPCs move from place to place. Perhaps when it gets dark they're not available because they've gone home. Something along those lines.

    Actually yeah, that would be a nice touch of realism. Though unneccesary in Ul'dah because that place is always full of PCs anyway.

    EDIT: speaking of realism... there hardly ever tends to be a proper amount of houses in most RPGs. You're left wondering if these people are all homeless. Even painting an urban area into a 2D background would fix this, but most games just flat out ignore it.
