Back again with another question that's probably been answered, yet I'm too blonde to find it.

Do you have to use transfers immediately after buying them, or is it just, whenever you want? Asking purely out of curiosity.

It's not like other games were you buy a transfer voucher and can apply it whenever. Here you have to log onto the mog station, select your character(s), then select the server you're on, and the one you want to transfer too, pay the $18 (or take the free one if you qualify) and it takes up to 10 minutes and your character(s) will be transferred.

The reason I say characters, you can pay for 1 transfer but if you wanted you could transfer up to 8 character to another server, without having to pay 8 times. If you have the standard version of the game and not the basic that allows only 1 character per server. Just make sure you remove all of them link shells, FC's, have only the specific amount of gil in either the retainers or characters etc.

It also gives you a "free" name change if you chose to do that. Here's how you use that loop hole, create a character with the same name on the server you're going to transfer too, or multiple if you chose to transfer more than one character. Make sure you do that prior of initiating the transfer via mog station, then after your characters have been transferred, you will see a little note next to your character, telling you that the name(s) were already in use, and prompts you to pick different ones. Saves you another $20 or whatever the current fee for name changes is.

So the answer is yes, it will transfer you right away.
