Looking forward to levels 54-70, advice needed.

I am working my WHM up from level 53 now, and looking forward at the skills I am left wondering how all of this works.

Could someone give me a outline view of how MP management works as you get to level 70, and what in the heck Plenary Indulgence is for. I read the information in the job guide for that skill, but came away feeling that it was a skill designed for AST that got transplanted to WHM. I mean confessions? WHM is all about Elemental spirits and the forest and such, not the cloisters of Ishgard and their confessionals. What gives?

I need some help understanding the general framework of WHM when you get to 70.

What's Plenary Indulgence for? Occasionally it's a free tank heal. That's about it. Unless you run around spamming Cure on DPS players constantly, you'll never use PI on anyone else. It does sound like a Priest skill more than a White Mage one, absolutely.

Things at 70 aren't a lot different than they are once you get Assize, which you'll get at 56. That's a beautiful spell that does everything and that you'll want to use frequently. Put up Regen (with Largesse if you have it available), then if you need more healing use something else. Cure works, Cure II works, Tetragrammaton works if it's up, lotta options. Stick some Aero and Stone in there as time allows.

Mana bar dipping below half? Use Lucid Dreaming. Don't wait to be empty, since you'll be waiting longer on the cooldown if you do. Thin Air gives you a period of free casting, which is great both for Holy offense spam, and for bouts of intensive healing (depends on the fight). Divine Benison for those big tank damage moments, or if someone's about to die and you don't have an instant heal available. Oh, and more Assize.

The nice trick we have is Cure III. You won't usually use it. Get to a fight with a "stack up to avoid big damage" mechanic? Use it then, and you'll heal everyone back up a ton compared to the other AoE heals.

You'll get stuff gradually enough at this point that it'll feel pretty natural where it all fits in.

^ has the right of it with PI, when I get a proc I'll either pop it between my next casts or pocket it if a tank hit is coming up. It's useful but too erratic to really build a game plan around it, just try to keep using it and you'll be doing fine.

Outside of that, the best tip I can offer is to try and maximise the usage and value of your cooldowns. Try to avoid pocketing them for too long. WHM is an absolute beast in dungeons now, with decent cooldown usage I'm holding 3k+ dps on trash pulls without any large pulls.

Great advice so far. I would say the biggest things I have to add are dont worry abouy Lily generation too much and use Divine Bension (the 66 skill) as much as possible. It has a short cooldown and makes for great mitigation to allow DPS especially on WAR tanks because it calculates off of max health.
